Teddy CAN throw deep he just chooses not to.  He's like Alex Smith in that regard.  Both process information really quickly and like to hit the short to intermediate routes on time.  But when they finally let one loose, it becomes clear its not a talent issue.

Teddy Bridgewater in 2019 - 2.82 seconds average time to throw. Tied for 23rd in the NFL. Brees was 2nd in the same system. For reference, Kyle Allen was 11th.

It all hinges on Joe more than Teddy. If Joe thinks Teddy can run his offense efficiently, that's good enough for me until he proves otherwise.

2014 in Minnesota. 11.3 yards per completion. Tied for 24th in the NFL.

2015 in Minnesota. 11.1 yards per completion. 26th in the NFL. 

 I think the point was that you don't have to in order to have a top offense.

It's a pretty  meaningless statistic. You don't get more points for throwing long passes. 

If you look over the years of longest completed air distance stats you see  a lot of bad and mediocre QBs and teams involoved.

Also looking over the avg completed air yards you see the same.  There's no real correlation between pass depth and quality of offense. 

Brady is 11.7 career

Brees is 11.3 career

Rogers is 12 career

I, for one, look forward to Teddy having his first bad game for ANY reason and gets bashed on this board ... by the very same people that gave Cam every excuse under the sun when he had a bad game. The hypocrisy will be delicious.

Teddy will be fine. Is he elite? No. Is he better than a back up? Yep. He is a "starter"? Yep. And he's our starter.

      I wonder if they'd consider trading Rasheed Walker to a team that needs tackle help but missed out in the draft?

      LOL. This is such a Panthers fan take.  Anyone who falls to us must suck because some other team didn't take them before.  We got lucky with Lemon, Thieneman, and Freeling all falling to us (honestly any of the three is a A+) but the WR and S positions are much deeper than the LT position in this draft.  We got the LT w/ the most upside at 19.  Mauigoa played RT in college and some think he is a guard in the nfl.  Spano played RT in college and some think he is a guard in the NFL due to short arms.  Blake Miller played RT in college and is not as good as Freeling.  Proctor is a true LT but his ability to handle quick edge's worries me (see Icky).  Freeling is a true LT and a gifted pass protector.  Many think he has a very high ceiling and will benefit from not having to start right away.  This is how you build a franchise.

      After watching Cam get killed for years behind a bad Oline and having to watch the 2021 and 2023 Olines I will never complain about this team putting resources into that spot.  We got a true LT who could really push Rasheed Walker for the day 1 job. Go back and watch Iceky's draft profile from 2022 and all the talk was Ickey would be an all-pro guard in a zone blocking scheme, but he could play LT in a gap power run scheme. That's why Ickey looked really good when Wilks took over and we just started running gap run plays and just mauled people up front but under Canales we've been more of a zone running team. Ickey can survive at LT with his pass blocking but his true strength will always be his ability to just move guys in the run game and that's a skill set that's better used at guard.  Take another OT later on day 3 to learn from Moton to take over RT in a couple of years and let Walker and Freeling battle it out for the day 1 LT job then next offseason trade one of Hunt of Lewis and let Ickey move inside to guard.
