If the daily promo emails are any indication...

Its a whole new world now with Covid. Cam was great but I dont even believe his absense accounts for much considering the economic impact of Covid and what it means for the future. I doubt many are not buying gear because of Cam...and more like not buying because they likely wont be able to wear it at games anytime soon.

Cam Kuechly, and CMC were the 3 big sellers for jerseys. No one's going to rush out to buy a Bridgewater jersey if they see him as just a placeholder until we draft a franchise QB (not trying to start yet another debate about that, just pointing out that a lot of the fan base sees him gone after 2 years) Why lay out $80 for that?) Also, no preseason means no getting excited over the new guys/rookies.

On a side note, my wife DID get me a black CMC jersey for this season because I was bitching that none of jerseys (Luke, Olsen, Stew, & Smitty) were on the team any more. She's a keeper.

It's no different than a year ago. I thought it was overkill to get daily emails also. They're just trying to keep themselves in our minds, in case we feel like spending some money.

Bingo. If you're in the market for fan gear, you're probably more likely to go to Amazon to go get it. Unless you happen to receive a coupon code from the Panthers that same day, in which case you think, "well I might as well get 20% off, since I was going to get it anyway." And the only way they can maximize the probability of seeing that coupon the day you decide to buy a jersey, is if they send it to you every day.

It's just good business in today's market.

One thing I was blown away with, in my time in Charlotte, was how there is so little Panther's gear around. The amount of college gear in Louisville is insane by comparison. Of course, there is nothing UK won't put on a t-shirt, so that's not crazy, but even Louisville and Indiana have plenty of merch every where.

It blew me away that a professional sports team had their merch regulated almost entirely to sports specific stores.

So may be it's the Tepper era waking up to the fact that the team has very little marketing presence to the general public.

The Panthers are definitely feeling that their fan base has taken a hit. I'm getting emails literally every day from the team store with different promo offers. Their revenue must be down big time.

Duh. Stevie Wonder saw that one ahead of time.

They didn't make fan friendly or contender type of moves, nor were they good PR moves. They don't have a legitimate star on the roster, OK maybe one.

You already know that I think things were done in a selfish cutthroat type of way with no regard to the wants of the fan base who mostly probably preferred not to take three steps back.

Look at coach. He looks and totally seems unlike himself. Hasn't coached a down and looks totally unlike the guy we met months ago. Is this ownership wearing him down already? This is a concern.

What are you talking about with Rhule? I haven't noticed anything alarming.

Dude looked terrible, haggard even last interview.

I'm praying for coach. This owner, from what I've observed so far, watch out dude.

Rhule comes from, what I feel, is a very honorable background, not at all the cutthroat, deceptive type if upbringing.

We'll see. You may be right. Only time will tell. Nothing has really endeared me about Tepper so far, that's for sure.

He basically let ALL the star power walk in the most disrespectful ways he could. Don't forget Greg Olsen. The owner wants the spot light so now we're all looking at HIM now. You're the star dude, what YOU gonna do in the NFL. Entertain us.

Not just Cam, all our bankable star players are gone. I don't think you are going to see big numbers for Stephen Weatherly

I would say that CMC 22 has to be one of the best selling jerseys in the league.

Although I'd bet that Cam's Patriots jersey is a hot ticket. In fact my former best friend got me one for my birthday. I say former best friend...because I murdered him.
