Most of you are on board with the Panthers not tanking. But I still see some stragglers that believe still that the Panthers will intentionally only win one game this season.

That is simply not true.

Yes, the Panthers will struggle this year and are not a playoff team. However, they could win as many as 6 or 7 games if Matt Rhule is worth the giant contract he was signed to. 

Improving and building a winning culture is far more important than hoping and praying you select a college kid that may or may not work out in the NFL.

The former is the ideology of the Patriots. The latter is the ideology of the Jaguars.

Which team would you rather copy?

Oh, I don't think we're gonna do it intentionally. But I'll be very surprised if this team wins more than 3 games.

You don't have to tank to not be good enough to win a lot of games. 

I'd be surprised if we eclipse 6 wins. We play the AFC West, and our division is stacked.

Quite possible, and I would be fine with that provided:

- The team shows improvement as the season progresses.

- They are out played , not out coached

This stafff is nearly devoid of NFL experience. They're going to get out coached. I just hope to see them adapt and develop.

It’s not intentional, but keeping all your Draft picks, and 3 Undrafted Rookie Free Agents on the 53 man. With the possibility of starting 4 Rookies on defense.....yeah man. This isn’t tanking, but I be damned if it isn’t close to it.

I see Rhule more in the mold of Pete Carroll than Bill Bellichick.  

I don’t think we intentionally tank but may still end up with a top 3 draft pick.  Remember that it takes Rhule a couple of years to put his philosophy in place and start winning.

Damn I just looked 50% of the secondary are rookies.

 

2 rookies and a 2nd year guy on the dline.  We may not be intentionally tanking but this is pretty off the wall style in trying to win games immediately.  And I am too scared to look at the oline roster  ::shudder::

 

The staff may be saying all the right things but I believe their actions clearly show they are building for the long term not short term.

I get it. JI wants the clicks, needs the positivity. But real fans know this team will be hot garbage. The roster decisions show that, regardless of what the coaches say.

Isn't this what people also said about Miami last year and they ended the season 5-4?

Tanking is about a mentality.  You don't instill a "lose intentionally" mentality, especially on young players.  Tanking just doesn't work in the NFL.  Its not required to tank to find a QB to get you to the playoffs or Superbowl.  If you look at the last season, one may even say its a sign you *wont*.
