Opinions: if Lawrence is gone, what's the plan then?

How do you know he does. Try getting proof that he will fit our scheme then come back with feasible evidence. Not one of the upcoming QB's in this draft class could fit our scheme.

Because there is not a throw he cannot make.  And he is mobile.  What proof do you need?   What exactly do you think our "scheme" is?

Not enough proof at all. There is no evidence any of these QB's will even transition into the NFL as a star player yet and they are already being paraded as such.

What is our scheme?

While that may be true about them transitioning I would say 99.9% of the scouts all have TL rated as the best prospect since Luck.  On the peyton manning level.  I would be more than willing to let Joe Brady work with him then rolling with Teddy like you want to do

And having the hot take of Trevor Lawrence isnt good is just so juvenile and weak.

Again he is a college level QB and what he or any other QB can do has to be a proven play or not play at NFL level. So until he has proven he can play at a high level he is not good until he has sealed his spot as a starting player. You still would deny facts if they stared you in the face.

Thats some interesting logic you roll with there

If we're there at 1, obviously you take Trevor. But if we're a top 5, I honestly think you grab the highest rated OL, and nab what QB you can get in the second.

I like Fields and Lance, but neither is a singular talent who will be able to succeed behind the OLine we have right now. And we're more than a pick or two away from fixing it. So the question is who can succeed, or at least survive long enough for us to get the rest of our team in order. Here's a fun game: Close your eyes when you're watching their highlight videos, and see how much of each player's reel is the announcer yelling, "Wide Open!"

Agree.  We should go after the college QB with most NFL starts....

so what's your point?  never draft a QB

Nobody is saying he is guaranteed to be a hall of famer.  What people are saying, is that based on standard evaluations that football people use, he is on one of the best QB "prospects" to come out in recent history.

But this is 100% true about every college player entering the draft ever. You have to pick 1 of them at your spot...

If Lawrence is gone, you trade three first rounders to whoever drafted him to get him.

Yes, he's that good.

This team can't afford to lose three first rounders....team needs every draft pick they have or can get.

    • I must apologize, my sarcasm at times doesnt translate well in text form lol. At this point I would welcome us signing him, Trey Lance, trading for Jameis Winston, asking about Deshaun Watson and playing phone tag with Tom Brady before I ever fully entertain a season of Bryce Young being the defacto Starting Quarterback of the Panthers.
    • Petey Pablo raises up for the Carolina Panthers pregame at the Roaring Riot tailgate. videoplayback (30).mp4
    • We had a QB who could do that and its the last time we went to the Super Bowl and the only time we had an MVP. Once he lost his ability to do that he was out of the league. To filter out insignificant stats I will only look at QBs who have played in 10 or more games this year. There are 28 qualifying QBs. Bryce is 25th in Air Yards per Attempt at 6.4. Only Joe Flacco, Cam Ward, and Dillon Gabriel are worse (6.0, 5.8, 5.1). Trevor Lawrence, Patrick Mahomes, and CJ Stroud are the median QBs at 7.1. Drake Maye and Sam Darnold lead the league at 8.7. Bryce is 18th in the league for passes that travel 30+ yards at 12. The median is Caleb Williams at 15. The league leader is Matthew Stafford with 26. With passes that travel 40+ yards, Bryce is tied with three others at 21st in the league with 3. Only Jacoby Brissett, Cam Ward, Joe Flacco, and Dillon Gabriel are worse. The median is a three-way tie with Drake Maye, Trevor Lawrence, and Baker Mayfield with 6. The league leader is Sam Darnold with 12. Having the ability to complete passes down the field (not YAC) stretches the defense and makes them account for more ground. It keeps players out of the box and keeps formations in nickel or dime, less line backers for your RBs to worry about. Bryce is why we have 2 losses against the Saints. If he had the outright ability to sling the football down field we beat the easily, but he doesn't. So they crowded the box and our 2 starting caliber RBs with our top ~10 Oline couldn't carry the offense to a win on their own. The limitations of the offense fall squarely on Bryce.
