Is Carolina North a real powerhouse?/Looking Ahead/Saxervasions

Please note: In here, I'm not complaining, just appreciating

I have to say, what our GM/HC who should've been in Beane and McD have built up in Buffalo is a monster.

Josh Allen is tremendously undersold.  He has the best arm strength in the league, is somewhere between Cam and a Big Ben.  He's really gaining confidence as a passer and is looking stellar.

They went out and got a long term LT in Dion Dawkins.  We laughed when they took a bunch of old Panthers but they were used as transitional chess pieces. They've gotten a killer receiving crew: Diggs/Brown/Cole Beasley/Gabe Davis.  And shhh...Daryl Williams is playing really well this year at RT for them.  They've been cool with letting good players at lesser value positions go (Look at their RB, S positions).  Ed Oliver is also a force.  And not to mention, they have arguably the most promising CB in the league in Tre'V White. 

Now on the bright side, we've finally shed ourselves from the old regime but the core of what made us great (outside of Cam) lies up there in Buffalo.  Felt like a shout out was in order.

And to circle this back around to us: If/when Hurney is finally gone, we'll finally have a cleaned up staff in place that is fully separate from that past.  I genuinely like how fresh things feel. 

I suggest approaching this year similar to how the Cardinals were last season (but without a Kyler Murray) or even Buffalo 2018.  A brand spanking new coach, unproven, not expecting the moon but looking for that modernized, innovative, driven squad.  We're devoid of some talent right now but it's a clean slate that will be almost completely primed for a boot up with KK off the books (which we know will happen after this year/his dead cap goes way down/savings up).  And Teddy's contract is only 3 years and seriously not as bad as people claim it to be. 

We were gutted to the core and shell and we're reworking some of the structural before we can start building anything/taking it too fast.  But look how bad teams like Buffalo and the Cards had been before rebuilding.  In the grand scheme of things, we're in a really cool position.  Weren't forced to take crap like Tua, Baker, etc. in recent years, but didn't go trying to maintain a withering away missed-dynastic opportunity with Cam/Luke.  We recognized, stripped it down and are primed for a really interesting build.  I remain excited.

Powerhouse? Don't know, but they're better than us at the moment. That much is certain.

Seeing how Cam performed with the Patriots last night was bittersweet. I'm very happy for him. He seems poised and well coached for the first time in his career. He has an offensive line that can give him time to find the open receiver and a coaching staff that uses him to his best abilities. He should have looked like that for his entire career.

I'm sad the Panther shad Cam Newton for almost 10 years and couldn't create a consistent winner with him. Cam seemed to succeed on this team in SPITE of the situation around him. Never giving him a legit WR corp or O-Line, backed by inept braindead coaches. 

Maybe things have changed here now, but I don't know if many of us will ever get over how much of a wasted opportunity the last decade was. 

Winning cures all ails. I hope that comes sooner than later.

Hopefully they win their division this year and really make a playoff push. Sorry, not sorry cam. You did go over to the dark side.

I agree with you, but, in Cam's defense, it was literally the only team left that he could become a starter. Cam doesn't do back up. This is the the nfl version of him playing for Brinn college.

It just feels like a major page turned this year in the league and it feels super different, beyond the pandemic.

You've got the Chiefs, Titans, Bills, Ravens as the new powers in the AFC, then the Seahawks, Cards, Packers in the NFC with the 49ers banged up and the Rams look refreshed.  

I see the Falcons at the brink of collapse with an awful Matt Ryan contract (He does have an out in 2022), the Bucs and Saints are in major win now mode so if we land one of these young 3 in Lawrence/Fields/Lance, we're suddenly best positioned in the division long term.  We'll be set to go offense in the draft with a plethora to spend on maybe a defensive stud or two in FA. Ideally, a CB and LB.

We are in good position right now, just need to get it right.  I personally think Fields is going to be special and would love to get him in black & blue.

I think Bills will win their division and advance at least to the 2nd round of the playoffs. Don't see them being a real contender to win it all though, not with the Chiefs and Ravens in the AFC, and whichever team comes out of the NFC.
