Never a question of Chinn vs Simmons

Does Brown > Simmons?

Bonus:

Does Chinn > Brown?

Chinn for the win

Simmons and Chinn are the same type of player playing the same position.  You absolutely can compare them.

Not saying you cant compare.  You're right

But does Chinn being better than Simmons, negate what Brown is doing as our 1st rounder.

Just Monday talk.   I like Chinn and agree he is better than Simmons

Gross Matos plays a position that is a bit tougher to make an immediate impact-but he had a few moments.  I see him developing nicely--

But Chinn is already our best player behind the front line.

I sorta wanted Simmons over Brown, but I watched Simmons on tape. He just seemed a bit soft on contact.  Chinn hits.  I also noticed that Chinn is very instinctive.

About the small-school argument--chance are a small schooler is not as well coached--coaches on that level are not accustomed to coaching players on that level.  And his supporting cast was not like it was at Clemson--where an offense my not focus on you because they are worried about 3 other players, giving you more opportunities to make plays.

Hard to compare a block eating DT to a hybrid LB/S that gets to fly all over the field thanks to block eating DTs

    • I understand why people say things like it could be worse in relation to Tepper but it just doesn't jive for me. Are the optics bad? Yes. Would I want her to be the owner of my team? No. But I mean she's only been owner for a year and the Colts overall are a better run organization. As far as I know they've also never had the distinction of having the worst win percentage in all of professional sports either. Tepper has owned this team for 8 years and about the only thing that has been consistent has been the ability to continue to find different ways to achieve new lows. Even now people are saying things are different yada yada but we said these same things at certain points under Rhule Fitterer and Reich. I'm going to wait to see how the rubber meets the road this upcoming season before I make any strong conclusions about anything in relation to the longevity under this franchise going forward.
    • This is a toughie because I wonder what a guy like Canales thinks about redemption stories for addiction issues. Also, I think this is a case of 1 player getting caught, and not being naive enough to think this isn't more common in college than we think. I'd toss a 3rd rounder out there. 2026 is essentially a redshirt season regardless, so he's not taking over for any NFL QB next year. Best case, he's ready to go in 2027 if we pass on Bryce's extension. Worst case, he's our future backup QB2. Kid has the tools to be an NFL QB. I do think we could somehow land a '26 3rd round pick back in a trade. Our past years' third rounders are: Brazzell Princely Wallace DJ Johnson Matt Corral All this to say, I could see a team like the Jets going w/ a 2nd. They have three FRPs next year.
