Panthers have a good chance to beat the Chiefs later this season

I am jumping the gun here. But watching what the Raiders did against the Chiefs gives me a lot of hope for the Panthers beating the reigning champs in a few weeks. They played a lot of 3 down linemen with 8 men in zone coverage and Mahomes had issues with that coverage. Sound familiar? Panthers have run that coverage a lot in the past couple games.

Just wanted to post a little optimism ahead of time.

At this point, I honestly feel like we CAN beat anyone. What I will say is that we don't have a huge margin for error(probably smaller than most teams). Reference the bad game Teddy had against Tampa and how much that put us down.

But, if we are clicking on all cylinders(like we were largely today), we CAN beat just about any team in the league.

I never expected to say that this season.

The Chiefs struggled in overtime to defeat the Chargers and just lost to the Raiders.

They're not invincible.

Their offense also looked like garbage against the Patriots. Cam would have rolled those guys and the Pats would have won easily if he had been in that game.

Youre right. There not invincible. But a win against the Chiefs would wake up the league and the Panthers would officially “arrive”

Did you not watch that game? The chiefs looked awful against the Patriots defense and only lost because Brian Hoyer held the ball way too long and is a perpetual loser. Mahomes did nothing special in that game. The Raiders followed a winning formula the Patriots have set forth against the chiefs that the Panthers can definitely follow.

I don’t want to arrive.

This franchise has always done better flying under the radar and frankly I could give a fug about being fawned over by national media talking heads who wouldn’t know an original thought if it was tattooed on their forehead. Respect around the league gets earned regardless of whether self appointed experts confer it between beer commercials or not.

It’s a new era. This curse of being “under the radar” might finally be over....let’s hope....

    • I'd hold on to Walker - we have no OT depth at all. Freeling is a block of clay - all the tools are there and he appears to have a great attitude. He needs serious work on his technique to realise his potential though.
    • From my watch last night: They weren't trading out of 19 unless it was a daft offer once Freeling got there. They were clearly antsy to get Hunter - and Minnesota actually called to offer the trade down. They weren't trading out of the third round pick once Brazzell fell to it (and Canales would have been happy with him in the second round). They traded back a lot on Day 3 - even if Morgan 'Babe Ruth'd' it with Lee, Hecht and Wheatley; they clearly weren't the only guys they would have taken at those picks. I'm curious to know which player caused the reaction at the start of day 2 (Dan Morgan): "of course they'd pick him"
    • Watching this confirms that this staff and front office is super high on Monroe Freeling. I wouldn't be surprised if he's gotta a real chance to win the starting LT job in camp. If he does, we can look to flip Rasheed Walker to a contender desperate for tackle help.   As for Ickey I still really like him and wanna extend him but based on how the staff was talking about Freeling it might be time for ickey to start taking some practice sets at guard if he wants to stay here as we are gonna have to have figure out a solution for the contracts of Lewis and Hunt.  My preferred scenario for the Oline in 2027 is Freeling-Ickey-Hech-Lewis-Moton.
