• Russell Okung returned from injury and played all but one snap at left tackle.
• Mike Davis played a career-high 83 percent of the snaps at running back, finishing with 149 scrimmage yards on 25 touches.
• Trenton Cannon played his first two snaps at running back for Carolina when Davis briefly exited the game, running once for a loss of three yards.
• Pharoh Cooper has seen an uptick in snaps at wide receiver lately, playing 25 percent last week and 23 percent this week. He had one catch for 12 yards.

• Donte Jackson played just one snap before leaving the game with his toe injury. Troy Pride Jr. played a career-high 97 percent of the snaps in his place, tallying six tackles at cornerback.
• Marquis Haynes played a career-high 55 percent of the snaps at defensive end after Brian Burns (25 percent) left the game with a concussion in the first half. Haynes tallied his second sack of the season along with a pass deflection and QB hit.
• After playing 81 percent of the snaps over the first two weeks, Tahir Whitehead has averaged just 57 percent over the last three weeks, including 54 percent on Sunday

There's been discussion that Joe Brady doesn't use the tight end much.

Side Note: Kind of amused that we had an equal number of offensive and defensive snaps. That's unusual.

Maybe it’s time to learn. He did have one TD reception if I’m not mistaken. We could use a big body if anything to quiet everyone up about our lack of red zone conversion.

Mentioned it elsewhere. There are some offensive gurus who just don't think that much of using the tight end. Mike Martz was one of them, though he was a Coryell guy.

West Coast style attacks like ours usually do feature a good pass catching tight end.

Good to see Whitehead lose snaps he should not be on the field. I just hope Hurney extends Samuel and Moton especially with how much both are playing and contributing

Brady’s offense is essentially Sean Payton’s and Payton has definitely shown he can and will feature a TE if he has a good one, but he will also just not really use one in the passing game when he doesn’t. I think it just comes down to that. Thomas is at best the 5th best option to throw the ball to on the offense and that’s with CMC out.

He will fit his scheme to his players rather than square peg-round hole the players to his offense. Sign of a good coach.

LSU used the TE a decent amount last year.  14% of all catches were to the tight ends.  Although I guess Brady wasn't their OC.

I hope to see Gross-Matos get more and more snaps as the season progresses. He's starting to show some flashes.

Trenton Cannon didn't have a chance on that play! I wouldn't put any stock in his losing three yards.

Samuel got more looks than I thought at RB apparently. He got that key first down though. I guess the coaches know their team.

They seem to have decided to turn Samuel into a Swiss army knife.

Right now, looks like it's not a bad idea.
