brees is trash

No fan of that team, but calling a QB of that level trash at the end of his career is some ol bullshit. Some of yall take division rivalry too far. Probably the same folks that think Cam is trash. We would have been lucky to have that solid of a QB here in terms of skill.

Drew is a hindrance to the Saints.  And yes, you can call him trash.  Washed, whatever.  Doesn't mean he wasn't great for years.

Stats don't mean poo in that Saints offense.  He racks up tons of yards on checkdowns.  Almost all of his TDs are the same.

I've watched 3 full Saints games now (my father in law is a huge NO fan).  He can only occasionally make the throw that is open more than 10-15 yards down field.  He made a few last night in 2nd half.  His average pass attempt this season has been around 4 yards from LOS.   That's LAST in the NFL.  Defenses know this.  That's why they are struggling.

They would be a better offense with Jameis in at QB even with all the mistakes.  Because teams would be forced to respect a potential for deep pass.

You know the Panthers have more YAC than the Saints right?

They won last night yes but they do not worry me one bit. Chargers completely outplayed them, yet Lynn was just completely outclassed and outcoached. Rhule is 100x the coach Lynn is. We may split because of division and what not, but I don't see any chance at all that the Aints sweep us, and even if we split I think we'll come out with a better record than them. But just sweep they ass and get Ginny back in here with the broom.

I posted the stats a few posts up after the game last night, similar completion, about a hundred yards off from Teddy but 3:1 td to int vs Teddys 2:1. They’ve been very similar this year. But one is deemed trash and a hinderance and the other is a clear franchise QB now. Against common foes it’s the same story. They each played three games against the same defense as each other but Teddy is 2 TDs and 2 ints in those games where Brees is 4 and 2.

there's a higher bar for drew brees because he's an all-time great. "playing marginally better than teddy bridewater" is a steep decline.

Your point is what?

Teddy checks the ball down too much as well.  Teams at least respect the deep pass when playing defense against Carolina.

But the difference is Brees checks it down because he physically cannot throw the ball deep with any regularity.

I don't really care if you don't believe it.  It's true.  All the analysts have seen it.  I've seen it.  Saints fans have seen it.  Drew is a shell of himself.

Panthers are averaging 5.5 air yards per completion. Saints at 5.4. Just because you have the game on the tv doesn’t mean you are actually watching it.

If Teddy isn’t playing like trash then neither is Brees.

Here is what I'll say.  Trash isn't the right word.  He is no longer GOOD.  Brees' arm is dead.  And it's hurting the Saints.

And for the record, I haven't made any comments about Teddy's QB play.  I think he is a playing average ball.  Nothing special, nothing bad.

So I guess that's Drew.  He is still incredibly accurate inside 10 yards.  Cannot throw it deep with any consistency.  No velocity on throws outside the hash.  More interceptions than typical.  It's not awful but it's nothing special.     He is not a good QB anymore.

I'll be shocked if he doesn't retire after this season.  Brees used to consistently push the ball down the field.  I can only remember 2 or 3 throws he tried MNF.

Brees is a first ballot HOFer but as we've seen many times before.  If they hold on too long the final year or so of their careers put a small shadow on a great career.
