Was just watching his presser and he is hot.  Face is red and he has repeatedly lamented just in the first 2 minutes that the decision to take the FG attempt was less than ideal.  And he's not holding any punches...

It's weird, bc as hard as I've been on Teddy, from my point of view, despite the long-standing rule that you CANNOT take a sack when in FG range, I felt like the way they sent the pressure it was virtually impossible not to lose yards there, either via sack or intentional grounding.  So, I finally felt like that issue wasn't on Teddy, but Rhule is insinuating it is.  They asked him if he felt Teddy could've gotten rid of it on 3rd down, and he said, "You can't take a sack there.  I don't care who it is on - the offensive line, the running back, the receivers, Teddy...  you just can't take a sack there.  Teddy can't take a sack there."

Yikes.

I felt Teddy played one of his best games today, but honestly, both he and Brady appear to be having some consistent issues late in games.

And while I'm here, I have to disagree with Jeremy's assertion that we got outcoached today.  Against a team and staff who have absolutely demolished and embarrassed Ron and Co. the last few years, and the team and staff I consider the cream of the crop of our division despite all Tampa has done, we pushed them to the very edge...  Had the officials not spotted them points and multiple new sets of downs on 3rd down situations, and if the defense could have done ANYTHING in the first half, that game is won easily.  I HATE moral victories, and although I'm disappointed we lost, I am inexplicably upbeat after this game.  Despite the struggles, I am incredibly encouraged by the adjustments we see made every week following the half.  This staff is special...  they are just different from anything we've had before.  We just got beat by a better overall team today.  We need defensive help badly.  The end.

I don't see how that sack is on Teddy.  We've all seen our QBs thru the years dancing around and run backwards and take a huge sack when we can't afford to, but the pressure came off the side instantly and when he tried to step up Davis lost his block (hard to ask a RB to block a DL, anyway), and that is when the play ended.  I'll need to see a replay of it... perhaps he had more time than it seemed.

We've all seen playcalls where the ball is out immediately after the snap.  Surprised that wasn't the call.

I agree.  So far, that is the biggest issue offensively...  game winning/tying drives are a problem both for Brady and Teddy and Co.

His golden boy OC should never, ever have called that screen.  One, Davis is too slow for that. Two Davis has been nicked  up

Watching it live, it appeared they got instant pressure up the middle and sent extra guys hard off each edge.

If you know they're bringing pressure, which they typically always have in those situations, you gotta have a hot read or a quick outlet setup.  With them sending extra guys, you got to scheme someone open quick...  it looked to me, like Brady called something long-developing, the blocking failed, and that's why Teddy had nowhere to go.

That is how I felt live, but I haven't seen a replay. I want to.

      Why do you say that. What leads you to think that we, as supporters, think his ceiling is 10-12. That's a ridiculous assumption on your part. The Seahawks won the SB with Darnold passing for 25 TD's, 14 Ints with a 99.1 rating for the season.  The Panthers with Young were at 23 TD's, 11 Ints and a 78.8 rating for the season. Not that far off. The problem with all the Young discourse around here is the assumption that the QB is the sole determining factor for a teams success. That just isn't true and it's certainly not how Morgan and Tilis are building the Panthers.

      Do we pay based on how many wins or how many games Bryce led us to wins? We've spent quite a bit on defense this year and hopefully they're much improved. If the Panthers do get to 10 wins, but Bryce has another year like last year where he showed up big in a couple, was present in a few, and forgettable in most, do we still pay him 50m per year?  I keep bringing it up because I think it's relevant, but Bryce was outplayed by a 6m per year backup last year. I don't see how it's possible to pay a top tier QB contract to someone who's putting up backup QB production.

      I understand tempering expectations, but there are some issues with his points. Walker was a 3 year starter, but Green Bay let him walk and no other team was quick to snatch him up. That says something. Freeling will compete to start. With Hunter, we rotate our linemen and even 5th round pick Cam Jackson played some meaningful snaps last year. Both Brown III and Wharton have underwhelmed since we picked them up. Hunter is a run plugger that we have needed. Hunter will play early, even if he isn't the "starter." Brazzell was described as one of Canales' favorite prospects in the draft and he has a speed element we have been missing. I think Canales is going to have plays drawn up with Brazzell on the field just out of pure excitement. It will be up to Brazzell to prove he can handle it, though. If he can, he will play. As far as our secondary picks, yeah they have to earn their stripes and Evero tends to lean on veterans. So they might take time, but if they can show they can play, they will see the field. Smith-Wade and Ransom did. Sam Hecht simply has to show he can handle the mental side of the NFL game. If he can, he is in a direct competition with Fortner, who's also relatively young, but also on his 3rd NFL team and doesn't have the power profile of Hecht.  I can appreciate that Gantt wants to pour cold water on what was perceived as an impactful draft, but facts are facts.
