If you were in Moton's shoes...

What makes you think he wants to play LT? He’s always been a RT including college. He might have no interest in switching sides and there really isn’t much difference between LT and RT pay these days.

If I’m him the only thing I care about this offseason is how much money I’m getting.

...which is a big reason why you want to play left tackle.

Beyond that though, Moton has actually talked about being able to play on the left.

Would he prefer that job? Don't know, but that is where the big money tends to be.

Why can’t people accept that Moton might just be better off at RT?

There’s a reason not every good RT gets moved to LT. And when has a RT ever turned down $$ so that he can attempt LT somewhere else?

Because we watched what we put at left tackle this past Thursday.

RT make big money too, hell any good olinemen can make big money. True, LT make the most because its the most important on the line but Moton can get at least 25 mil guaranteed at RT, the position he has played the most and has dominated at.

Both the Panthers and Moton want him to play RT.

We know what the Panthers want, but we can't say what Moton wants. And the only thing you're going to get him to say at this point is that he'll play wherever the team needs him to while his agent handles the other stuff.

You also have to figure that if the Panthers don't give him a good enough commitment, his agent will most certainly look to sell other teams on the idea that he can play left.

Regardless, given that we don't know Moton's preference, that's why the question is phrased as "what would you do in his place?"

I would probably be wondering why I was wearing someone else's shoes.

The real question is, does Moton want to play left tackle.  He is doing well where he is.  He may not want to change.

We don't know. Hence the question.

He hasn't expressed a preference for playing left, but neither has he expressed one for playing right.

The only statements you'll see from Moton are that he can play both and he'll play wherever the team needs him to.

Now if you talk to his agent, that's likely another story.

Okay... how does that change what I said?

What if we put Moton at LT and he fails? Now you just created a hole at RT and for what?

Moton has been RT his entire career. This is a new coaching staff too, obviously they prefer him at RT. And in todays league you need both tackles to be good.

    • Don't have to be miss cleo. His weakness are length, athleticism, creating his own shot, defense, finishing at the rim,  Strengths - shooting and IQ.   Likely won't work as non athletic shooters don't typically work.

    • I live in Indiana and took a trip that weekend to watch my two friend's teams play (Chiefs and Vikings) IN Minnesota when they were playing at a college field, I think TCF? Anyways, our plan was to watch the game (noon game) then do some shopping at the Mall of America, I wasn't planning on watching the Panthers play Seattle since I was out sight seeing and walking around after the noon game had ended. By the time we were walking back into the Mall the Panthers were down by 2 scores in the 4th or going into the 4th and we were all thirsty from walking around for 2.5 hours after the Vikings game so we decided to postpone shopping until after we ate. We found this nice little sports bar inside the mall that had the game on. Man, I'm so glad we skipped shopping because that was probably the most excited I've been in some time for a win. Beating Seattle in 2015 felt like the "monkey off the back" sort of feeling and I knew we had finally arrived as a team. The entire bar erupted when Cam hit Olsen for that walk off TD. Literally one of the greatest moments of my life. My friend wasn't so happy though lol, by the time the Panthers game ended ALL of the stores inside the mall had closed and he wasn't able to get any souvenirs. It was his first time watching a Vikings game live and making a trip like that so he was legit upset lol. I on the other hand couldn't have been happier.
