I was intrigued in the little bit I'd watched, but then I watched a couple of full games. He's trash. Intriguing physical talent but he's just not good at football. I think he's probably a late round developmental flyer pick for someone.

That sucks. I was hoping he was a Herbert where they didn’t know how to use him...

Yeah, my concern with Herbert was that Oregon's offense was so heavy on single read and half field read plays and they almost always took the ball out of Herbert's hands in crunch time. It was alarming but in hindsight that clearly just looks like a system/coaching issue and not a reflection of Herbert's abilities. It's why interviews are so important in QB evaluations.

On the other hand, Monds looks wildly inaccurate and incapable of making a correct decision at times. I'd rather stick with Teddy than spend a 2nd on Monday and I REALLY don't want to stick with Teddy.

Yeah, you didn’t trust Teddy before it was trendy.

Sam Howell?

Don't get a hung up on the names. You can exchange players here if you prefer Wilson over Fields (as I know some do) or if you think there's a better 2021 prospect than Howell, but the basic premise of the question is this:

Would you prefer to get one of your second choices in the coming draft or would you be willing to wait a year to get someone who would be a top choice in the next?

I honestly would hate to have to stomach another shitty season. We can safely assume that Lawrence and Fields will be gone, and that we will be in play for Wilson and Lance (as you said). At this point, I take either and cartwheel around my living room. MY QUESTION IS: if they're gone, do we reach for Trask or Jones or, roll the dice on either a round 2 guy or another year with Teddy at the helm?

I know a lot will happen between now and then, and I know next to nothing about college football, but if ALL 4 of those QB's are gone, there are sure to be some slam dunk players available when we draft between 8 and 10. Lord knows, QB is not our only need.

I would commit minor atrocities if that meant we secured Sam Howell. Me being a UNC fan aside he’s beyond special  and fits our offensive weapons hand in glove fit. He’s also started since day one so he’s good out the box. And while he’s played with good offensive weapons the oline has always been an issue and defense is usually terrible so he’s not playing with Clemson/Ohio State talent (but not bad talent whatsoever)...I’m sure there’s going to be an adjustment period but I legitimately believe he will be Joe Burrow/Herbert/Cam like (in regards to impact not exact play style) year one. Trade the farm if that means securing him.

If not give me Wilson he just seems to have “it” as well as every other physical requirement needed to be a plus QB.

Yep. His those WRs and RBs putting up great numbers with him are all mid-late round picks. I don't think there's an NFL player on the OL. It's Sam Howell powering that offense and it's one of the best in the country.

If you had to choose between Howell and Lawrence...

Hate to tell you but I get the feeling that another sh-tty season is a very real possibility regardless of who we take.

We may or may not be better than this year, but I think there are enough issues that getting us competitive is not just a one year project (especially if Marty is still the guy running that project).
