What would you do?  By the write up it seems Little has mediocre written all over him.

I like the ones that are mentioned to be very athletic.  Those guys usually take good coaching and can improve.

It will be interesting to see the combines on these players.

If you mean this write up, I wrote it, so take it with a grain of salt.  I like Little, but he will probably be gone.  And you are so right--the combine is going to be critical.  I look for balance, work ethic, and athleticism.  I do not like to see an OL hit his knees a lot--that suggests there is a balance issue and it could mean there is an issue that is robbing the OT of strength and power.  Just my way.

Sorry wasn't putting down your write-up.  I am not a talent scout and usually let you smart guys fill me in.

I know I keep saying it on many post but when Rhule was being interviewed after he was hired he emphasized two words.  Fast and Athletic.

I believe he'll look for the best athlete in each position he chooses.   My opinion of course.

I worry that we missed the boat on a LT.  The top 4 last year have been good.  Wirfs especially.

Had we gone IOL (say McCoy and Evans) instead of Little we could have gone T instead of Brown. Not that I don’t like Brown, but man instead of Little/Brown, we could have had an OL of Becton, Evans, McCoy, Miller and Moton. Resign Moton and all you need is one G to have had a helluva an OL for years. That would be better than Brown.

Yeah, I think that was largely the case in this past draft. I don't think this staff is just looking for workout warriors, but looking at our draft class they definitely prioritized athletes.

If we continue to draft with that being a priority in traits.  We'll see this team climb quickly up the rankings in the years to come.

I did not take it that way---I was just being fully transparent to let you know that I was the source--not an expert.

Little was rated (on the sites I read) as a boom or bust candidate--that always scares me.  I understood the move to get him, which is what happens when you enter a draft with a specific shopping list---BPA?  Not even close. And Marty tried to get into the first round to get him.  What would that have cost us?

I know if I was a GM on another team and my phone rang and it said, "Panthers" above the number, I would answer it and do some dealing.

If you're boom or bust and Hurney drafts you in the 2nd, it's over. That's a wrap for your career

Wills, Becton andWirfs have been good from this past draft. McGlinchey, Miller and Ramczyk from previous drafts. There have been a bunch of busts. In between since then. Blame the college programs. Offensive tackles used to be the safe pick. Not anymore.

It's not college programs' responsibility to develop NFL players. It's not their fault that NFL teams aren't doing a good job at translating that talent to their game.

And if this draft is anything like recent drafts, the best OL will probably come out of the second tier prospects. The elite prospects have been busting left and right, quite literally.

By second tier are you talking about later rounds or the later guys in the first round?

Last year's class is looking pretty good so far, especially for their rookie season.  Wirfs is playing well from what I've read.  Becton has looked good at times also.  Thomas struggled early from most accounts but I saw a PFF tweet recently that said his recent games have been great.  Don't really know much about Wills but I think he has been the starter most of the year.

I hope we don't regret not taking one last year.  Heck, we could have traded down and still got one of them.  I like Brown but its not often you have a chance to draft a tackle without reaching, they often seem to be drafted early than the fans think they should.

    • Yeah, that fits with our current HC and his nonsense. IDGAF about the religiosity BS if it isn't rooted in some sort of scammy nonsense(see Rhule, Matt). Canales does smell like that kind of guy.
    • I think Bryce is here because of Morgan and Tepper. Morgan took the job under the condition that Bryce was the guy.  If than was the genius that he's been made out to be after this offseason, then nothing with Bryce, Dalton and Plummer makes any sense unless it was being directed from elsewhere. Tepper has also made it known publicly that he was throught the building giving his opinion vocally even though he's backed out of day to day operations, which is another way of saying, listen to what I'm saying or else.  Dalton was washed after last year. In no world did it make any sense to give him a 1 year contract, much less a 2 year. And Plummer, he was so bad last year he didn't belong anywhere near a football field again but we brought him back one more time. Then we bring in Hooker and White and let the trade deadline go by with QB play that is not only abysmal, but that actually below backup level in many statistical categories.  The only logical conclusion I can draw is Bryce was protected this season from any competition at all and Dalton was kept to be backup because he could never be a threat based on last year's play, which was confirmed by this year's play.  Everything that has been done from the trade, drafting Bryce, Mingo, Brooks, Sanders, Lewis, Corbitt, Hunt, Moton extension, Mitchell, Etienne, XL, TMac, all of it, has been to reinforce, double, triple, quadruple down on a guy who's first year performance, if judged in a vacuum, would have gotten him cut from most NFL squads based on mechanics alone.  Frank saw it and it's why he was fired. He didn't want him and didn't even try to build a game plan around him. Canales can't build a game plan around him. Defenses stack 8 or 9 in the box and dare him to throw and Sunday is what we got.  This is Tepper's ego in full force. It's the only true explanation for what we've seen the past 3 years. This is a man who refuses to admit he was wrong.
    • Small sample size since I'm pretty sure this is from this year. Burrow wasn't looking phenomenal in his only full game but I'm sure would have bounced back.
