GM Candidate Profiles

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

About the 4th version of this and Scot has upped each thread.

Tepper is looking for the Rhule-version of a GM, a builder, open to different ideas, main focus is finding ANY EDGE in becoming a winner, not set in traditional ways, "nfl young" etc etc.

That SF guy fits many of those, I think this is NOT a candidate, but someone with his profile isishttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sashi_Brown#:~:text=He also played a role, part of the 2017 season.

Lawyer background, Ivy leaguer, Big time outside the box thinker. Hell someone with computer programs abilities even.

Something to watch, re: Pat Stewart

While league rules prevent the Panthers from interviewing GM candidates currently employed elsewhere until the season is over, they are free to interview internal candidates if they wish.

Thus, if Pat Stewart (or Samir Suleiman) were indeed legitimate candidates, you could conceivably see them interviewed within the next few weeks.

If they're not, it could just be that the team feels it's too busy to do something like that right now...

...or it could mean that they're not legitimate candidates.

Excellent writeups so far, sir.... as per usual.

Peters is that Dodds-esque, low-key rumblings vibe that knowledgeable front office circles talk about, but are overshadowed by the Caserios and Dorseys that the media loves. I would LOVE Peters here in Carolina and I think his hire would send ripples through the NFC in making us a feared team for the next decade.

Any thoughts on Suleiman and background on whether he can take that step into a larger responsibility as GM? He checks off a few boxes on Tepper's list for sure.

Any choice of: Dodds, Peters, or Caserio would make me happy, though I feel that our eventual new GM will have ties to Rhule in some way, and I don't think Dodds or Caserio does.

Lake Dawson has actually interviewed here twice. The first time was the cycle where we hired Dave Gettleman and the second was the Rooney Rule interviews before anointing Hurney.

Joe Person doesn't think Dawson has much of a shot because of this, but Ian Rapoport listed him as a likely candidate and pointed to the connection between the Bills and the Panthers as a point in his favor.

The stuff I've been reading about San Francisco is kind of funny.

It seems that John Lynch isn't really the talent evaluator there. That job belongs to Peters. Lynch said to be more of a CEO type who coordinates the guys that do different jobs.

Makes it sound like they'd take a serious hit if they lose Peters.

Sounds like Peters would be comfortable having an equal-partnership and being on the same level as Rhule...

...both reporting directly to Tepper like Peters did with Lynch.
