Kyle Pitts at #8

As I watched the games this year, the glaring need for a TE was obvious.  Carolina has had literally nothing at TE since Olsen left.  Having a true threat at TE would vault Bridgewater on to a whole new level.  With Mcaffrey out most of the season, defenses attacked the qb more so as there was no threat of Mccaffrey getting behind them.  But what happens when you add a playmaking TE that can get behind that rush for Bridgewater to throw it over the top of the rush to.  Well now you give the defense something else to think about.  With Mccafrey coming back, the emergence of Samuel and Davis in this offense, and adding a true play making TE will give us an offense we haven't seen in a long time.

Because that’s what is holding this team back....not enough weapons.

If we did it, we better have a plan at QB because surrounding Teddy with more weapons is only going to lead to more frustration.

I think were stuck with him for another year.  He didnt exactly have an ideal oline and with mccafrey out, the offense struggled.  his job becomes easier with mccaffrey back and a restructure oline.  I believe he can perform better.

How much more evidence do some people need that Teddy is who he is? He is who he's always been. Teddy is going to always be super conservative. He's always going to take the checkdown. We had the ideal situation for him here with lots of guys who are great after the catch and it still produced meh results in the scoreboard primarily because the redzone is where Teddy's limitations are most obvious. More weapons isn't going to fix those limitations.

Teddy is a backup QB. He has a backup QB's mentality. He plays the game not to lose and the only way you can win with that type of QB is to field an absolutely dominant roster and you can't do that year in and year out due to the salary cap.

A TE at #8 when the TE position is not a key piece in the Brady offense makes no sense.  This is the one position I would like to address in FA.  I was on the draft a high TE bandwagon for 3 consecutive drafts from 2016-2108.  That ship has sailed.  Too many other key positions to address.  Plus, if you do draft a rookie QB at #8, you need a veteran TE security blanket, not another rookie trying to figure things out.

    • I'm super excited about the guys we're getting back, and fortunately this year, outside of Robert Hunt, we haven't had any season-threatening injuries. Rico has earned the start, but I am excited to have both available.  The team is finally turning into the run-first team Canales said he wanted to be. As for JT Sanders, I think he has lost the most be being out. He is probably our best receiving TE, but with the emergence of Mitchell Evans & with him and Tommy Tremble both absolutely balling in run blocking, it will be hard to fix something that isn't broken. I'm hoping Turk Wharton can help with our pass rush. We really havent gotten to see him much due to injuries, but we desperately need anyone to provide some pass rush juice, which is what he was brought to do. I'm the most excited about Jalen Coker returning. Theilen may have been the most clutch last year, but I've watched a lot of film, and Coker was the most consistent WR we had when he was out there last year.  I think he can be an ideal #2 to Tmac. While Coker doesn't have the raw athleticism XL does, his route running, savvy, and overall football IQ simply make him better.  I think with the fact Coker can play both outside and in the slot will give our pass game more versatility.  We have been running a lot of 2 TE sets, and I think Tmac & Coker should be the primary WRs for 12 personnel. The other WRs (XL, Tremayne, Renfrow, & Horn) all have roles, but I dont think any of them can fully replace what Coker can do. I do think Renfrow will be inactive this week if everyone is healthy bc of how valuable Tremayne is for ST and as a run blocker. So happy that we are playing meaningful football heading into November. We are still almost certainly a year away, but we are absolutely moving in the right direction
