TRADE: Carolina receives 3rd overall pick from Miami in exchange for 8th overall pick, 72nd overall pick, 2022 first-round pick.

The Panthers showed some promise in Year 1 of the Matt Rhule era and the next phase of the rebuilding process for Carolina is finding its next franchise quarterback. In striking distance to land an exciting new option, the Panthers should be thinking about a move up the board. With Miami being only one year removed from drafting Tua Tagovailoa with the No. 5 overall selection and earning the No. 3 pick courtesy of the Laremy Tunsil trade and a poor season from the Texans, trading back to build the talent around Tagovailoa is a wise move. The Dolphins and Panthers are perfect trade partners. Wilson is a dynamic quarterback prospect that fits nicely with how the NFL game is trending and would provide Carolina with a potential difference-maker at the position. With a fairly complete set of weapons already in place and all the investments made on the defensive side of the football, Carolina is ready to pick a quarterback high in the draft.

Honestly I think you could get away with 2021 #8 and #40 to make that trade and now worry about 2022.

100% disagree. There are going to be a lot of teams gunning for that pick and a future 1st will be a bare minimum.

Denver, San Francisco, New England, Detroit, Washington, Chicago are all candidates to trade up, IMO. There are so many QB needy teams and this is a very, very valuable draft to snag a QB.

We really don't need a new thread for every new mock draft that gets released

Yeah, because we need more threads about Teddy's post game comments or every new GM candidate.

It's the offseason, I suggest you hibernate if you don't want to see reach threads.

If its for our franchise guy who will win SBs, then its worth it.

kinda annoying beating Washington cost us a 1st round pick ..

I think a lot is going to depend on how all these QB evaluations pan out. There is a pretty big pool of first round caliber QB's(Lawrence, Fields, Wilson, Lance, Jones, Trask). Does a guy like Wilson or Lance fall? Does Fields fall? Does Jones shoot up the boards?

It's really tough to say at the moment. These boards are 98% pure speculation and less about actual in depth evaluation and mining team sources. I will say that TDN does some of the best prospect evaluation around, IMO.

Yep, the same people who didn’t want us to tank might be ok with trading up. There’s a reason why us tankers didn’t want to win any games. Wouldn’t it be nice to have pick 3 already and also be able to keep pick 72 and 2021 first? I mean if we were playoff teams already like KC and Houston were, trading a future first to get the one piece (QB) you needed isn’t a bad trade off, especially when you feel that future first will be a late first. I don’t think our 2021 pick will be a late first so honestly I don’t want to trade up unless we can get Fields or Wilson and we feel like they are our new healthy Cam.

    • I see Bryce's development this way: He improved when his supporting cast improved.  TMac and Dowdle saved his arse last year, but in fairness, most good QBs have good WRs and good RBs--and good OLs.   The 2025 OL underperformed, actually. They were above average, but they should have been elite if you consider the salary cap.   As soon as we signed Lewis and Hunt, I started thinking, "That's not sustainable.  With Ickey about to get paid a LT salary, Moton and Hunt grabbling $50m per season combined, and Lewis around $17m--that would be nearly $100m and the Center just walked.  Yikes.  What does that mean?  Rico walks, Mays walks, and we do not have a top 5 WR on a second contract.  We do not have an elite TE, and only 1 is on a modest second contract. And now Bryce will demand $50m for his incremental rise to mediocrity?   So when we sign Bryce, we will get weaker at other positions.  Hunt, Moton, maybe Ickey and Lewis, will all be casualties--that is the right move regardless (not sure yet about Ickey, but he was not elite) Bryce is one lucky, entitled camper.  No competition since being drafted, and he lost his job for a while to the aging clipboard holder.  Now we are bringing in UDFAs and busts to compete with him.
    • Probably not.  If we are taking a QB, it would be a prospect to replace Bryce and not a flyer type player.  I can't say for sure, but I doubt he would have cracked the top 3-4 QBs even if he were to play this coming season.
    • The Giants, Cardinals  and Dolphins should have moved on, but they didn't and ended up cutting their QB early into a monster second contract and had to eat a TON of dead cap money.
