I come here daily to laugh at most of the serious posters. You don't know any of the guys, how interviews went or what their actual job interactions are, but can say with all seriousness that this guy is or is not a good fit. Frankly, no one knows. Three years from now, after a series of drafts, trades and free agent acquisitions, we will figure it out. Until your next post, get back to managing your potato chip racks

yeah these guys are pros who are we to criticize given their flawless track record

He's been the director of college scouting since 2010 with a title change to co-director of player personnel coming in 2015 . Actually a very strong resume when you look at their draft history:

Huh? Tell me which years after 2012 you’d define as strong. I’m being serious. I think their drafting lately has been awful. A couple years after 2012 with 2 good starters. Last 4 first round picks are Brooks, Collier, Penny and Ifedi. That’s terrible.

We all know the main question in all these interviews is what’s your plan with our QB situation. And he must of knocked it out of the park with how smitten we became quickly after the first interview

Out of the 4 candidates, only Fitterer and Poles were part of a team that drafted their franchise quarterback.

well the seahawks lucked into theirs

also, from rotoworld. Good point about Carroll and Ruhle, althought Carroll obviously had nfl experience.

Panthers hired Seahawks VP of football operations Scott Fitterer as general manager.

With the Seahawks since 2001, Fitterer just completed his sixth season as VP of football operations. Something of an annual candidate on the interview circuit, Fitterer had never find the right fit to leave Seattle. Fitterer has a background in both college scouting and pro personnel, but he is most known for his work on the college side. A survivor of three head coaches and a handful of front offices in Seattle, Fitterer will be tasked with furthering ex-college coach Matt Rhule's NFL evolution, something he has experience with from working with Pete Carroll.

The Seahawks don't have a bio page on their website, so I downloaded their 2020 media guide.

Here's their profile of Fitterer:

Quote

Scott Fitterer begins his sixth season as co-director of player personnel.
Originally joining the Seahawks’ staff on June 25, 2001, as an
area scout, he recently served 2011-14 as the club’s director of college
scouting. In his current role, Fitterer works collaboratively with Trent
Kirchner in directing both the college scouting and pro personnel departments
to manage and strengthen all aspects of the Seahawks
roster. As the director of college scouting he coordinated the Seahawks’
entire scouting operation and compiled all of the college scouting
information required to set the draft board. He is responsible for
the evaluation of all draft eligible players nationally, oversight of the
Seahawks college scouting staff and works closely with GM John
Schneider and the Seahawks coaching staff regarding the NFL Draft
and college free agency. Before joining Seattle, spent three seasons
with the New York Giants, 1998-00, as a part-time scout before being
assigned to the West Coast region for the 2000 season. Was a 1995
draft pick of the Toronto Blue Jays and spent three years in the Blue
Jays system (1995-97) before his career ended due to three shoulder
surgeries. Was a two-sport athlete in college, playing quarterback in
football and pitcher in baseball at UCLA (1992-94) and LSU (1994-95).
In 1998, Fitterer returned to UCLA to earn his undergraduate degree
in history. Born in Seattle, he is a graduate of Kennedy High School in
Seattle. Scott, his wife Cherish, daughter Ella, and son Cole live in
Sammamish, Wash.

with Seattle's drafting history and where they got Wilson in the draft, there's a concern that it's indicative of an operating philosophy
