Literally everyone else in this thread can admit race is a hurdle for qualified coaches like Eric B, Oldham doesn't wanna reckon with that so he poos my posts acknowledging it and makes up stuff to justify his opinion. It's anyone's guess why he's being so defensive about it, the conversation was going well til he showed up.

Some people who have certain personal issues will default to trying to impune the legitimacy of anything that speaks about said issue.

I dislike posters that poo posts for no good reason.

It would be nice if it didn't actually affect your community rep until you got maybe three to five on the same post by different posters who've already established a certain amount of rep themselves.

But, it's like I say: "poo flows both ways!"

Yeah, fair point, but it has happened to quite a few coaches in the NFL. Some guys just aren't always the best prepared for this process.

Look at it this way, if Houston hires Leslie Frazier instead, wouldn't that sort of indicate that maybe it has more to do with EB than it does Houston? And, yes, I realize the guy doing the hiring in that franchise certainly means that racial reasons have to be on the table.

For what it's worth, minority candidates did better on the GM front than the coaching front this offseason.

Of the six GM jobs available, half (Detroit, Atlanta and Washington) ended up being minority hires.

I'd have to look it up, but if I'm remembering correctly all but maybe one or two of the Falcons GM candidates were actually minorities.

Likely to be another if Kevin Colbert retires.

Funny thing about the Lions, the last time they were respectable was with Jim Caldwell, (they even went 9-7 his last year there which is GREAT for Detroit) then they fired him and replaced with him a worse coach in Matt Patricia, now they're rebuilding AGAIN. WEIRD

Well some things are constant. Death, taxes, shitty franchises being perpetually shitty.

To be fair, we probably would have said the same thing about the Browns last year.

(granted, it is just one year)

Or the Bungles.

The point being, poo franchises are usually poo for a good reason. They are poorly run.

No argument.

Sometimes it's just a matter of picking the right person to run it. Andrew Berry looks decent so far.

I hope the same can be said of us next year.

This is one of those topics where only a few trusted I feel could have a real back and forth with.

Shame even though its popular, Id hate to be brainwashed into thinking life is all colors.

True.

Fact of the matter is that as of about 5 years ago the league was grossly 74% minority. But nobody questions whether the  white guys aren’t getting a fair shot because of the color of their skin. Everyone assumes the best players play, and I personally believe that is the case. Why we hold a different standard to coaches or other leadership is beyond me. Let the best man win. Who gives AF if he’s purple, red, or green.

    • Completely agreed.  TBH, we have had so many great players that are in my favorite list, and I hate to narrow it down to one, but Cam is it.  Which is crazy, because you would think it would be more of the guys I grew up watching, but no.  Cam was the single most impactful player to ever out on a football uniform imo.  And like I said in an earlier post, I always felt a kinship with him in a lot of ways…  the way he was treated and judged for the off the field stuff in Florida and having to overcome all of that and fight show at back.  And although I am not a black man, I have always been welcomed by and accepted more by minorities, and thus, I know what it’s like to be judged by appearances rather than the content of your character and who you actually are.  I know what it’s like to be stereotyped and written off or mistreated for your mistakes.  I know what it’s like to be held to a different standard while your peers don’t have to meet that same standard.  So I always related to that.  And the way he came in and just electrified the whole franchise, man…  I still think about it often how much it sucks that because of how talented he was, our staff out so much on him and that ultimately cut his career short.  You’re right, there will never be another Cam…  I think Josh Allen is the closest thing we will see for a long time, but Allen is not the running threat Cam was.  Cam could run you over or around you.  That was THE absolute funnest time to watch our team ever.
    • It definitely needs more specificity than is baked in now.
    • The weirdest encounter I had with a pro athlete was waiting in line at security at Mile High Stadium when I used to get the company suite tickets almost every week because I was the only employee based in Colorado. There's a small checkpoint accessing the suites that virtually no one knows about that you can usually squirt right through. I was standing there and looked over my shoulder and there stands John fuging Elway waiting in line behind me.  This was during the The Golden Calf of Bristol season right before he became GM. I just said "They make YOU go through security?" He's like "Yeah, ain't that a bitch. I literally have a statue out front and I gotta go through security like everybody else." I've heard mixed things about him but he was super nice and down to earth with me that day.
