He wasn’t getting one this year regardless, but I don’t think it impacts much.  If KC continues to have a great offense next year he’ll get one eventually.  Most of the offensive problems from last night are on Andy Reid.  That O Line was getting abused and they didn’t do anything to stop it.  Long, slow routes and totally abandoned a running game early that was getting 5 yards a carry.  Ugh.

Basically, one of the biggest knocks on him is “he doesn’t call the plays” and last night, play calling was ass.  So that’s not on Bieniemy, but Reid.

Eric was calling the plays last night. Late in the 3rd quarter he 100% was calling the plays.

Well that changes things.  Then yeah, it might have an impact on the future haha.  I honestly drank a bit too much last night and did not realize that.  Playcalling for KC was very poor.

How does the result last night impact his chances?

It shouldn't affect them at all. From what I've read the thing that's holding him back is the perception that he doesn't do much in KC. Andy Reid calls the plays and deserves all of the credit for the offensive success. If Reid gets the credit for the good performances, then he should get the blame for the poor ones as well.

Bieniemy's perception around the league shouldn't change based on last night's performance in a perfect world. But, if you head over to Pro Football Talk people are already saying that he failed to step up last night while Reid was distracted because of the drama with his son. 🙄

I'm not saying you are wrong...but...how do you know that's 100% true?

They showed Andy Reid and Eric B. is back to back shots and Reid arms were crossed with no playsheet. Eric had the playsheet and was covering his face calling the play. I was like "woah.. Eric is actually calling the plays, that's odd."

I saw this multiple times in the third and fourth quarter. I assumed that they just knew the game was out of reach or they came out of the half with that as their new game plan.

To be honest, I cut the game off after Mahomes threw the pick in the 3rd quarter while the score was 28-9. I knew the game was over so I bailed. Based on your post, maybe Reid realized the game was a lost cause as well...or felt Eric B could give them a spark. Let's be honest, Reid had some tough days leading up to the Game.

 Thanks for clarifying things.

I finally turned it off with 3 minutes left.  It felt like the Chiefs were sleepwalking through most of the season.  Not being as good as they could be because they knew they could turn it on when they needed to.  Finally ended up biting them in the ass... what a shame.  Missing their two best OT really hurt.

They're talented enough to win without their A-game against most teams. But, most teams don't have a defense as talented as Tampa's. They've got a GREAT PASS RUSH,  a good LB core, and a good secondary and great team speed on the defense in general.

I can't help but wonder if KC will rebound from this. In the early 2000's the Rams appeared to be on the verge of becoming an NFL dynasty and the SB loss to the Pats in 2001 squashed that. We all thought Seattle was on the verge of becoming a dynasty, but their loss to the Pats squashed that. Now, another team QB'd back Tom Terrific has squashed (at least for now) the next NFL dynasty.

With all of the deals they've handed out...and the fact that the salary cap may be going down in 2021, it's going to become harder for the Chiefs to hold on to their players. And, last night's game plan is going to copied by every defensive coordinator in the NFL in 2021. I wouldn't automatically pencil them in as AFC champions next season. The loss last night could possible be "the beginning of the end" for the KC Chiefs potential dynasty.

    • It’s like being on the Flyers broadcast team feed so far
    • Boy the flyers look good early. Lots of bad plays and slow start by our team. Hope that changes before the score changes.
    • I guess I should have stipulated outside the sacred cow.   I complained from year one that Bryce should compete for and win the starting job on his own merit but no he was just handed it. I have been right there with everyone that wants competition.  But I don’t really have a huge problem with it for this season the way it has gone because where are the viable people we don’t have to trade for? I actually am okay with tiny hands Pickett because he is so close to Bryce arm strength wise and to be honest, skill wise. Probably. And it is only a one year deal.  That also takes into account that the QB class is looking stacked next year and if Young fails miserably then we get either a reset or a real competition and there will be more guys that I would like looking at in the FA QB class next year as well.    I sort of accept where we are this year and look at it as another treading water year (at QB). I just want to get to next year with some clarity. More than anything. And they did empty out the room (behind him anyway). Again, who was really there for us?  And I know it would not be a true competition at this point anyway. They are giving him the year, like it or not.    Also I don’t give a poo about winning games IF he sucks and or goes down after sucking because draft position and that stacked QB class.  And I want out from under him So Bad.     So I guess it is several factors that lessen my anxiety over his backup this particular season.    I am not trying to convince anyone, but you asked. That’s how I look at it.
