If anyone is calling offering literally anything for Teddy, his ass should be GONE.

Sounds like a bad idea to pin ourselves in a corner. We’ll be desperate. We’d have no QB going into the year so the price for trading up in the draft or for Watson will go up.

The next domino to fall may end up being the the Cowboys decision with Dak.  If it's a non-exclusive tag, then he could be had for 2 1sts.  If they wanted him long term, something would have been worked out by now.  Someone may jump on that before Deshaun.

Big Ben is staying put somehow (Don't know how PIT will figure their cap out) but the next 2 weeks could be quiet.

We know teams have called about him, and everyone knows we don't view him as the future.  That doesn't mean we're going to take a 7th.  If the best QB situation we end up with is Trey Lance, who is very inexperienced, then it would be in our best interest to keep Teddy for a year to help mentor the new guy.

Teddy's contract was set up for this situation.  I don't think we'll see Teddy traded until we know what our situation is.

Here is the issue with that. If the Watson trade does indeed take place believe it or not Bridgewater might be a key part of that trade (Not an essential piece but a qb replacement piece for the time being) so it may throw a monkey wrench in the plan's if he is needed to complete said deal

I find it difficult to believe that Houston would be interested in Teddy, but it could very well be a reason why we're hanging onto him.

    • Sure, but if that happens, the draft pick will look even worse for the Falcons, as instead of getting them a player that could win now, they took someone who ran off their prize FA QB after 3 years and now looks like they may be a bust. Penix was one of the more polished QB's in the draft and would have probably been a rookie starter if taken by someone with an uncertain starting QB, if he's not ready to step in and play well in year 3, then it's probably not going to work out. So the only way it helps their contract situation, is if it doesn't work out as they plan, but if it does, they're going to cut Cousins after 2 years and then have to give Penix a monster deal the following offseason.
