I'd much rather have Jones over Lance.

I agree w/ that.  But I don't want either at 8.  If we could land Mac Jones in the 2nd or more likely via a trade down in the first I would be cool with that.

I'm still open to spending that #8 pick on BPA and kicking the tires on the likes of Sam Darnold.  I think Darnald has potential to be better than one or two  of the top 5 QBs in this draft.   And you could probably get him for a 2nd or 3rd  rounder.

This is a HUGE red flag. The guy ran a 4.92 in HS. I don't think he's anywhere near as fast as most people think he is. I'm not sure his running ability translates to the NFL. If he could run sub-4.7 he'd be running IMO.

“Lance later learned the GPS tracker he was wearing clocked him at 21.54 mph on that run, his fastest speed of the season. It would have ranked 12th in the NFL last season among ball-carriers and tops among quarterbacks, according to Next Gen Stats.”

Jones won't make it to the end of round one

Well, then you let another team draft him too early IMO.    This entire draft IMO just screams desperate teams doing desperate team things.

Mac Jones, Trey Lance, etc are simply not top 15 NFL QBs IMO.      You can't predict stuff and any player could prove you wrong....Trevor Lawrence could flop and the FL kid be the best in the draft.

If we don't draft Fields or Wilson w/ that #8 pick then I am a pretty firm no on a QB.

Yeah, that was posted earlier too. So why do you think he isn't running?

If he went out there and ran like the wind it would definitely help him.

I hear that New England is interested. Then again I guess Belicheck knows nothing about great QB play.

yeah, I'm not buying that.   Go watch that run.   Nice run.  Good angles.   He wasn't running away from folks on that field...and it was James Madison athletes right with him not Bama.

I mean I am interested.   I doubt BB is trade in to the top 10 interested for Mac Jones.

I mean there was a reason Tom Brady was a 6th rounder.    There were reasons BB passed on him 5 rounds in a row too.  Brady is a unicorn.   People always defy the odds.  But the odds are the odds for a reason.

    • No it isn't. 😅😅😅 If someone says he can't throw X many yards because he didn't do it last year, but he threw it X plus 10 yards in college, that shows he can. He may not have done it in Carolina, but that doesn't mean he can't do it. There is a real possibility that there were extenuating circumstances. These definitive but inaccurate statements are also known as hot takes or gross exaggerations.
    • Thanks for posting this. I don’t know how many of you guys also visit the Reddit panther sub, but damn Mingo catches so much poo in there, and Bryce gets every excuse.    Seems like inconsistent logic to me that Bryce gets a pass for the team dysfunction, but Mingo is just a bust.   I saw inconsistent tape from Mingo, but he had plenty of examples of good route running…showing me he can do it.   He was a rookie, and naturally was inconsistent with it. I don’t think we are dealing with Dwayne Jarrett here. I look forward to seeing him develop more consistency…and I hope Bryce can get him the ball if he does.
    • my thing is, we have seen lots of good QBs play behind really bad OLs at times.  And yes, bad OLs impact everything.  But those good QBs, still have lots of moments showing how good they are behind bad OLs.  And frankly, a bad OL has never made any of them what we were last year.   Heck, many of them go to the playoffs with bad OL play.   That's my Bryce issue.  He didn't have really any moments that a #1 overall pick should of had.  Bad OL play included.     But I concede, Bryce was setup to fail.  And fail he did.  But if he was special, I still think that still has it's moments no matter what.
