Panthers Free Agent Signings Thread

Since the start of Tampering period, I have had 40-73 Huddlers PM me, all asking me for the MHS831, my real name actually, perspective.  So here it is, if bullet form, although I am not a violent man:

  • The Panthers wanted these guys because they locked em down very early in the process.
  • The are both versatile, able to play multiple positions.
  • Both hustle, getting down field on screens or draw plays.
  • They both have weaknesses and injury histories that are not considered major or career-threatening.

So do we know what we have?  2 centers?  A guard and tackle?  A center and a tackle?  2 Guards?  A center and a guard?   The answer (right now) is "yes."

I am sure that Rhule and Fits are aware of their shortcomings and their risks, but they didn't just grab them for a year, they signed them to multiple year deals.  They wanted these 2 players  and targeted them for a reason.  You have to think their versatility is key.

Perhaps that will suffice for now.

Finally a response not based on quick emotions

I'm that dude that waits for things to go on sale and not jump on them as soon as they hit the shelf.  Call it the cheapskate in me.  No doubt we need OL depth and with our history of OL injuries we surely need positional flexibility.  However, these guys (or guys like them) would be available days from now and probably at a discounted rate from what we intend to give them.

Me too--fully expected us to do that.  These 2 guys can back up the entire OL--and either would probably be an upgrade at LG.

I lied about the 40-53 Huddlers so that people would think I am in the know like Verge.  I checked my inbox.  crickets.

    • I did not want to start or even think about *if* BY reverts back to pre-non last 9 games.   There is a lane in which Panthers are looking QB after this season, I feel its higher than most will realize. I mean....not kidding... has any team ever traded up to 1st overall twice in the teams history? I don't even want to think within 3 years, just foresee Tepper squeezing Dans and Brandts sacs to the point were they are forced to trade up for a another savior.....   The kicker is I feel this way with BY playing good-great..... I think there with be non-fixable problems for contract negotiations between BY&reps vs Panthers org on the whole. You can not pay 50+ million per over few years with 70% guarantees for 3,303 yards 15 TDs and 9 INTs......Cursed I tell you....
    • It's not surprising, but it's still surprising that many of these guys don't manage their money in such a way that provides them and their families a better lifestyle than most for the rest of their lives without even working a nine-to-five. I can't imagine making over a 100 mil for a decade and ultimately ruminating about supporting my family due to financial issues.
    • That why i mentioned the KC dynasty. Those three different playoff loses were not Allens fault, in fact 1-2 plays and Bills win. KC just have better players and better coaches and more luck.  Defense-wise, Bills have been trying to crack the Reid-Halhomes magic. Its near impossible with rules and KC home field advantage. Spags has started to force the league in naming him the best DC in NFL history. I agree if you take away Bill bielacheat.... Add in Andy Reid the best QB coach and brilliant play designer/play-caller, I mean that's too much for one QB to over-come on his own.  Just trolling or not, bad is bad scot. Allen is legit as any one QB has ever been.
