It doesn't matter if the QB is confused. You run it for 5 yrs a pop thu A gap on that trash D.

No you don’t.  It’s been proven before.  Go check Vikings game stats.  Plus it’s not like the Panthers will use 3-5-3 on every down but they will heavily use it.

Took me 2 seconds.

Cmac would go to the house against this.

Looks like Rhule and Snow gearing up to run heavy 3-5-3 formation in 2021.  All of the moves made so far are pointing in that direction.

Here’s a 3-5-3 formation with Chinn and Reddick likely occupying the “hybrid” roles.

1. Creates Confusion

There aren’t a lot of teams that consistently use the 3-5-3 defensive formation, and as a result, offenses aren’t familiar with seeing it.

This can cause a lot of confusion on offense, especially for offensive linemen who must quickly identify their blocking assignment at the snap of the ball.

2. Similar to a 3-4

The defensive personnel used in a 3-5-3 isn’t all that different from the personnel of a base 3-4 defense. This is especially true if you just take your strong safety and make him the fifth linebacker.

It’s not an entirely new formation but rather a wrinkle on a well-known one.

3. Creates Pressure

Five linebackers on the field can all have a running head start on getting to and through the line of scrimmage on every play.

This often forces the offense to make quick decisions and prevents the quarterback from holding onto the ball while passing routes develop.

4. Good Against Run and Pass

Defenses that run the 3-5-3 can rest assured that it can be successful against both the pass and the run, as long as the two Hybrid linebackers can read plays well and then react to them quickly.

Look for us to bring high quality free safety and 1-2 corners.

Great post, very interesting

We actually played a lot of 3-5-3 scheme down the stretch last year and that’s when Panthers defense finally showed up.  Aaron Rodgers even called it out after the game that 3-5-3 we ran destroyed their game plan ant they had no idea how to stop it.

The defense in general came together in a big way towards the end of the season. Now, we have added a lot of firepower to bolster the D, and all our young guns have a year of experience under their belt. I’m thinking  our D is going to show out this season. We are a good QB away from competing in the NFC RIGHT NOW! I firmly believe this.

Do we have some holes? Yes, of course all teams do, but I really really really like the moves we’ve made, and the really good core of young, hungry talented players on both sides of the ball.

Let’s get it.

When carolina trades down in the draft they will be able to draft 2 shutdown corners

If we don’t trade up, or pick a QB at 8, but then trade down when either Sewell or Slater are on the board I’m gonna be livid. I don’t get trading down in this draft, when it’s predicted to be a QB heavy top 10, which will mean multiple blue chip players at other postitions ripe for the taking at 8.

Maybe if they move down into the high teens or something but I really hope it’s no lower than that.

Half yall jus talking. Donte can hold on any island. We are going to get a certain caliber of skillset in a corner. N Juston Burris can play the FS up top like a sound FS. He had more good time last year than bad. Factz. DB wasn't letting food run up the middle of that how rookie year. So u are not a true fan.  N we will have slot corners for the multiple receiver sets. Denzel actually defends the middle of the field pretty well. That was out biggest weakness on D last year. 3-5-3 scheme is all about adjustment. It's a hybrid set defense they can adjust on the fly. Add another receiver or two. We insert a slot corner for Shaq. Chinn n the slot play zone reads immediately releasing Reddick n Burns for the blitz read or the run read. If it's a pass play. Gungho!!!!!!!

Everyone always looks for the magic bullet with defense. It’s really just adjusting to the players you have and putting them in the best spots to win. The best coaches always do that. Belicheck has run many different kinds of base schemes and it was always to adjust to his players. Wade Phillips and others too.

when coaches pick a rigid scheme like square minded fans think and try to find players that only fit that scheme it’s when it goes bad.
