That the problem we are at right now. We’re not getting Watson anymore. We’ll probably be left with the best 5th or 6th qb at #8. Tepper and Rhule are going to panic and overdraft a QB in the 2nd or 3rd round. That will set us back with another wasted pick like Will Grier. We just need to stick with Teddy now and make a run at Howell or Rattler next year. Too many area of needs to be taking a chance at Trask, Newman or Mond.

No QB in round 2--I see your point.  I think we will sign a veteran, but one guy flying WAY below the radar could be a day-3 pick and he has perhaps a better chance of starting than Newman or Mond--people are going to laugh at this, but here goes--day 3 draft pick and potential starter in the NFL (in 2023 or so):

People will squint at this and laugh, but if he gets healthy, he has the size (not mobile) arm and brain to play in the NFL.

How do you go back to Teddy?? The whole offseason was a Teddy ain't it show...

If I'm Teddy why would I even try??

Panthers said they were gonna be aggressive, but an aggressive team would have done what the 49ers did.

We were most likely bidding against the 49ers and lost. The price just got too high for the 3rd best QB.

I really don’t blame them.

Tell me how we’re not going back to Teddy. We’re stuck with him. The only way you don’t go back to Teddy is by taking Mond, Trask or Newman. Those guys are not better than Teddy.

That's the point both parties know we're stuck with each other.. Do you go perform and put your body on the line for a team that doesn't want you really.. What's stopping him from pulling a Watson on us??

And who’s that guy? It sure won’t be Mond or Newman.

People would've said the exact same thing about guys like Wilson and Brady going into their drafts... If anyone knew who that guy would be he'd be taken high, so nobody knows and it could be anyone.

He has 17,000,000 reasons not to give a fug about all the shade we threw his way.

Watson had 40 mil reason... Your still putting your body on the line for a franchise you know don't want you and would trade you in a heartbeat if they could.. How does that attitude not transition to other players you're trying to build a "culture" with??

We literally had Cam Newton and wasted him and maybe ruined his career for failing to build around him. What are you talking about we deserve a good QB. QB purgatory is exactly what we deserve.

I was referring to us Panthers fans... And that was the old owner and leadership, Tepper hasn't done anything to deserve purgatory.

I agree with you but Teddy isn’t Watson. No other team is stupid enough to trade a pick for him. We wouldn’t be able to get a 5th round for Teddy. We have a college coach who thought that he could win with an average QB in the NFL. That’s how we ended up with Teddy.

Cool I can see it from a team vision..

But as the player you've have pretty much spent all offseason telling me I'm trash.. How do I trust the blocking the play calling or surrounding talent when nobody believes in me or care if I'm here.

This is the hoping on Outlier thing that runs thru this fan base...

Watson was good enough to have plenty of other options prior to the unthinkable. No one else is giving Teddy $17M+.

I agree, BUT this was the best offseason to get your potential man.
Carolina may be bad again next year, who knows, and be in play for one of the 2 QBs that could be a starter.
Many fans saw this year as one of the best years to get a QB, but now the Panthers are on the outside looking in and no plan for the future, from a fans perspective at least.
Panthers may drag Teddy to the playoffs next year. But there is going to be this undercurrent of “What if”.  Because let’s face it. Unless our defense really becomes 2019 49ers or 2001 Ravens. The team will make the playoffs, face a better team that will stop the short passes of TB and we will enter a loop similar to the Chiefs before they got Mahomes.
Alex Smith always had great season numbers and then struggled in the playoffs, he only made it to the NFC Championship once.
We could of potentially gotten our franchise QB but now we are going to have to endure Bridgewater another season and potentially more.
Panthers said they were gonna be aggressive, but an aggressive team would have done what the 49ers did.

I’m sure another will emerge. This time last year nobody knew who Zach Wilson was. Well end up with 4 first round QBs next year as well... prob not as top heavy but they’ll be there.

That's great but that 17mil  doesn't exclude you from not giving effort not trying and getting other players hurt..

Not being motivated to play a violent game like football is a death note.

    • If the losses were him not stepping up in key situations then it'd be a disappointment.
    • I'm well versed in the minutiea of the Canes radio broadcast system... lol I've been back in WNC for about 15 years now. And, until very recently, we would only get Predators games on the RSNs out here. So, radio was the only option for me to keep up with the team. These were the dark years, too. Maybe, once a year, you'd get to see us get smashed on national TV by some original 6 powerhouse. If you were really lucky, Jeff Skinner would bless you with one of his absolutely stunning pirouette passes to nowhere, before Wardo toppled over off his head, giving up a goal on his 70th shot faced that night for an inspiring 1-0 loss. But, that story sounds a whole lot cooler when Chuck Kaiton is telling it to you in real-time with the raspy drawl of a calving heifer! Before TuneIn or the Canes apps even existed, I used to have to find the one spot out in the back yard, where the hills and trees parted just right, that I could pickup 730(?)AM The Buzz all the way out in Catawba county. I'd sit in the shadow of the mighty Appalachians, staring out at the stars and getting high with stray cats, while being serenaded by the worst hockey you've never seen played in your life. That all, finally, started to change around the time TD bought the team. Part of that is due to the new NHL TV contracts and the constant reorganization of the RSNs themselves. Part, was me breaking up with that feral cat and moving to LKN to escape all the painful memories. The march of progress, and all that... I will say though, as much as I've criticized Dundon and as much as I loathe the existence of billionaires on principle, he has done an exceptional job of improving the fan experience, on the whole. Working with the league to expand the coverage map and bringing in outdoor games and all-star weeks has been huge. But, improving the quality on the ice (and of the ice) for all levels of hockey across the state has been even bigger! I forgot where I was going with all this, but... I'll still never forgive him for retiring Chuck K, though! HEY, HEY, WHADDYA SAY!!!!
