What are we doing in the draft?

If Fields falls to 8 I'd take him. If not, I'd prefer to trade down like Rhule apparently wanted to do last year. Not a pundit but depending on how far they move down Darrisaw and Sam Cosmi could be there. I think the risk is worth it to move down in order to get more opportunities to fill holes in the roster.

And a few players like Dyami Brown and Elijah Molden could fall due to slightly slower than expected 40 times and other players testing better. More chances to get good players.

Agreed. If Fields is there, take him. If we aren't going QB and the phone is ringing, at least listen.

I'm a huge UNC fan but Brown scares me. Dude's hands are VERY hit or miss and while he's fast he's not Ginn fast. The hands are comparable though. The more wide open he is the more likely the drop.

Based on what I have heard. This year has been tough on any rumors though. QB first priority and don't believe the noise we don't like Fields/Lance.

Honestly believe when we traded for Darnold - it was a red flare that we announced the #8 pick is up for grabs.. There are a lot of other teams that want a QB and #8 is a perfect spot to grab any of them..

Those that were upset at what we gave up to get Sam (6th, 2nd & 4th) should be happy after we trade back and pick up two 2nds..

Essentially: 2nd + 4th + 6th = Sam Darnold + two 2nds
Golden..

I swear ppl complain about the oline play all thru out the season... then comes draft time and they talk themselves out of getting Olinemen...

Smh.. At this point it would literally be stupid and a total JEts move not to Atleast attempt to build a oline now and see what you have in Sam...

So far it’s looking like Lawrence, Wilson, Mac, Pitts?, Chase, Sewell, if Lions grab Slater who should we get?

I'll have a final mock draft coming in a few weeks but as of this moment I think

Lawrence
Wilson
Mac
Lance
Chase/Pitts
Pitts/Sewell
Waddle/Fields/Smith
Sewell/Slater

I don't think it is out of the realm of possibility. I'm just not sure they trade for Sam if that is the case. Draft an elite LT prospect, and build around Sam for better or for worse.

I do wonder if they decided to trade for SD because they don't think any of the qb prospects they want will be there at 8.  But if a surprise happens, and one of them is available, they might still pull the trigger.

IMO, qb is such a critical position, that it wouldn't bother me if we went into the season with two potential starters.

    • Sounded like no on the podcast. Willis will be doing some stuff on WRAL.
    • I kinda want to use this as a barometer of how people feel about Bryce as well. But the main purpose of this thread is mainly for those who have either mixed feelings or feel negative about Bryce. What exactly would it take for you to believe he's the franchise qb for the next decade? Or maybe simplifying that question,  what kind of stats would he need in need to really earn a top 10 qb deal/market rate for a 2nd contract with the panthers? Maybe that's a broader question because they could hold on to him for 4 or 5 years.  Maybe the key factor here is I don't believe Canales is tied to Bryce at all emotionally.  I don't truly know how much weight he has in the room to be able to move on from Bryce if he sucks again I guess, but I don't see him just sitting on his hands if we go 2 to 4 wins again. I'll try my hand at it here. I'd say something like 25 TDs 15 INTs or less, 3000+ passing yards, around 65%+ completions.  Wins and losses not be as relevant of a stat prediction for Bryce alone, but I would assume if we're at least somewhat competitive for the division that helps his case a lot.  If we have a winning record or a playoff appearance (or both), either of those may be more than enough regardless of Bryces performance because of how long we've been in a playoffs/winning season drought.  Looking at the opposite end of the spectrum,  I doubt this happens with all the changes BUT. If Bryce turns in another year with a 1:1 TD:INT ratio again or a negative ratio that's gonna spell trouble. Even if he has God awful stats he'd definitely still be on the team year 3 contractually, but I'd say that Canales wouldn't be beholden to keep starting him unless there was a directive from teppper to do so.  People keep saying the 2025 draft is a dead zone for QBs but Quin Ewers, Carson Beck, and Shedur Sanders are all of age, and any of them or someone else could blow up by the end of the next college season.
    • Since you want to poo posts remotely critical of him months later why don't you return and own up to your thread?
