If ones available at 8 I’m for it but ever since seeing how some of the “can’t miss” OL prospects of the 2013 draft turned out I’ve always been opposed to trading up for OL.  Too much quality talent at 8 regardless to make it worth giving up any more capital, especially after giving up next years 2nd for Darnold.  If Cincy takes Sewell then take Slater, Parsons, or next BPA at 8.

I stay at 8, counting on 4-5 QBs to go before us--

  • Jax:  Trevor.
  • NYJ Wilson
  • SF Jones (Still feeling it--you people mocked me over this guy.  Mocked me!)
  • ATL (trade?) Lance is my guess, but they could go with Pitts or Sewell as well.
  • Cincy should go with Sewell, BUT they could take Chase (Burrows wants him) or Pitts.  Burrows wants weaponry, it seems. However, if they do not pick Sewell, word on the street says that the Panthers will. (my street--in front of my house)
  • TRADE:  Miami is going WR or edge rusher-Chase is the pick here unless they trade back with Denver or someone for Fields.  Prediction: Denver (trade)for QB Fields.
  • Detroit needs a whole team of WRs.  They go WR.  Chase has to be the pick here.
  • CAROLINA:  Someone good is going to be there--Pitts, Slater, and / or Sewell, maybe?  Go LT.

If you're not looking for QB 8 is a good place to be.

Draft cheat sheet for people who only want the best for their Panthers:

The Draft starts at pick #3---Trevor and Wilson will be flying to Jax and NY, respectively, when SF goes to the podium, so lets start here:

3.  SF:  We want them to pick Jones.  If they do not, Jones likely goes after #8.

4.  ATLANTA:  Now that we have a QB and prolly will not take one, we want them to take a QB--Lance, maybe? I think they like him.

5.  CINCINNATI:  Please take Chase.  Listen to your QB.  He misses him.

6.  MIAMI: They need WR or Edge Rusher, so they could reach for hometown boy Rousseau or take one of Tua's Bama mates Waddle or Smith.  All of these are OK and we will allow it.

7.  DETROIT:  They could use a WR too.  Let's hope for a run on WRs or maybe MLB Parsons.

8. CAROLINA:  Today's buffet features Sewell, Slater, Pitts, and any CB you want.

Sewell or Slater in the 1st best secondary piece in the 2nd. Safety or CB. Then a road grading guard in the 3rd for me.

Lotta possibilities for that guard.  Heck, a few RT candidates could fill that need--like Dant'e Smith, ECU.

I hope we draft Mills, QB, Stanford in round 3 if he is there.

If you will take Sewell or Slater (no preference) you could trade back a spot or two.

    • One thing I didn’t consider is how thin this draft is at quarterback. That’s going to drive up the market for backups and borderline starters like Willis, Jones, and Jameis Winston. Because of that, we’ll most likely be priced out of the market for this tier of backup.
    • We've already beat the #1 seed twice, why not one more? (Packers and Rams were both #1 seed at the time we played)
    • My determination has come down to this. Based on recent QB history, has Bryce's improvement warranted 50m per season? Lamar is the only original team QB to play on his 5th year. The others took major deals at the end of the 3rd, before or just after the option was signed. Chances are, we're getting asked for the same.  I haven't rooted for Bryce to fail. I've rooted for him to succeed so big that them signing that extension would give me no worries about our future at QB at all. We haven't seen that level of play consistently that this year. We haven't seen it in the past 6 games.  We're about to be at a threshold with Bryce and I worry about what this front office will do. We have a history of bad decision making and Morgan has been part of that group making those decisions. I don't want Carolina in the same boat Arizona and Miami are right now. It has nothing to with being right. It has to do with wanting to win for more than a single season. We've never had back to back winning seasons. Faith in their abilities is not warranted at this point.
