I wasn't trying to call out anyone in particular. This has been going around for months on Facebook/Reddit/Twitter/Huddle/etc

There were 2 different stats that both have been floating around. He was the only WR with 1200 from scrimmage both years and the only WR with 1175 receiving yards both years. IDK which came out first, but both only serve to prove that he is middle of the road for starting receivers.

1200 yards for a WR is good for about 10-15 in the league every year for the past 2 decades.

It was actually 7th and 10th in yds per game. How is that middle of the road with 64+ starting receivers?

I'm pro-Moore too. I just want more from Moore. If he's going to get top 5 money, be should be putting up top 5 stats, especially on a consistent basis.

He's been consistant if anything and with 3 different qbs and 2 different OCs. Consistency is the topic of the thread. Inconsistent is what you will see with several of the current top 5 wrs

He's been consistently good, not great! Adams, Hopkins, Diggs, Jones are unquestionably consistent impact players every time they step on to the field. You must account for them or pay the price on any given play. You might as well pencil Justin Jefferson in also. Tyreek Hill, Michael Thomas, are in the same class. Even older heads like Keenan Allen and Allen Robinson are likely in a higher tier. Skeletor (DK Metcalf) is probably headed that way. There are a few others that many would rightfully consider ahead of Moore, so I don't see all this underrated business. He's likely in the vicinity of where most NFL types would rank him.

So should Frank Gore (who was never thought of as a top 5 RB in the league) be considered on the same level as Adrian Peterson who dominated the league for a time period?

The specific stat is...

DJ Moore is in fact the ONLY WR to post 1175 or more yards in both 2019 and 2020.

I will admit I am too lazy to look up the exact number and just say 1100+.  But that stat and fact is true and was discussed at the end last season.

Only other player to pull it off was Kelce.   A TE.

Not to mention that TB could not take advantage of his deep ball threat.

Give him a QB that can stretch the field.  He's top 5.

This is one dumb fuging thread.. And top Dog be ashamed of yourself..

Why? Because I said that D.J. Moore needs to play like a top 5 receiver, including having impeccable route running and making himself a scoring threat, in order to get top 5 money? Get over yourself!

Dumbass opinion.. With Little to no context.. Reality is DJ now is the 3rd best WR in team history.. After this team history of bad highly drafted WR's finally having 1 produce like this and bitching about it seem a bit over dramatic and just talking to hear yourself speak with no real point.

Oh, I see. Your issue is that you believe that your dumbass, illogical context of comparing Moore to all the Panthers receivers in team history (when we've really only had one legit WR1) is better than comparing him to the best receivers in the game today, especially as it relates to whether or not he should be paid like one and how much. Got ya! You're the one interjecting your opinion into a conversation that you don't even know what the point is just to hear yourself speak because you don't like that I think that Moore (or any receiver) should play like a top 5 receiver in order to get paid like one.

Can’t comment on Facebook but the tweet is the original post about this, roughly a month ago. It then made its rounds on Reddit through the Panthers sub and the NFL sub. When it hit the NFL sub it was shared here. That covers 3/4 of those social sites and I doubt anyone wanting to have a serious conversation about things is going to reference Facebook.

Moving onto the statement DJ Moore is a middle of the road WR because 1200 yards is good enough to be 10-15 most years in the NFL. 32 teams, 64 starting WRs, being 12-15th is absolutely not middle of the road. That’s in the top 1/3. Middle of the road is your average player. He’s way beyond that.

Now if you want to include tight ends in this as “pass catchers” you have 32 tight ends starting in the NFL so now we are grading 96 players and he’s still in that top 10-15 range, right? Being in the top 10-15% of the pass catchers in the NFL isnt middle of the road. It’s fantastic. It’s great. It’s borderline elite.

I wouldn’t put him into elite company yet because I need to see him with better QB play but if DJ Moore is a guy you’re going to get 1200 yards out of every year going forward then he is an elite player. It’s only been two seasons in a row and he’s young so in need to see it for longer but I don’t agree one bit that this stat helps to serve your agenda that he is a middle of the road WR.

DJ Moore is 23 years old. Allen Robinson is 27. Hopkins and Golladay are 28.

Just to be clear you're telling me a WR entering year 4 is already on par or close to the level of these guys despite being 4-5 years younger? Thats an eternity in the league, hell that's an entire contract length in the NFL. DJ could sign the same contract Golladay did today and after playing it out would STILL be younger than Golladay was when he signed it.

Thats enough DJ slander in this thread. Seriously. If you refuse to see that despite playing with Kyle Allen, Will Grier, Teddy Bridgewater and PJ Walker hes the only WR with 1200 scrimmage yards the past two seasons as anything other than a testament to his potential for greatness theres no help for you.

You nailed it...Everyone around the league knew Smitty was a true #1 who made an impact day in and day out. He was a true difference maker. DJ is straight but nobody outside of our fan base is pounding the table that he’s a true difference maker yet the next contract he asks for will without a doubt be top dollar. This is not a “hating on DJ” comment or me being ungrateful. This is a bang for your buck statement. On his rookie deal, yes we are getting a great deal. But paying top dollar for the impact he’s actually made for our offense would be terrible.

Did you not call a top ten receiver on a rookie deal overrated? You assume you know what he will ask for and what he will get for his next contract. As of right now he’s an absolute steal on a rookie deal and without him Robbie wouldn’t be getting covered by a number 2 corner and Curtis wouldn’t have been covered by a #3 most of the year. And I do believe their efficiency stats would suffer without DJ out there battling the other teams too guys on most plays.

Now, over the last two years, these other guys you are putting over DJ, how many of them have a lesser QB situation that DJ Moore catching the majority of his passes from Kyle Allen and Teddy B?
