For what its worth, Daniel Jeremiah thinks we are going to take Patrick Surtain.

Doesnt have the long speed, Slater or Bama WRs should be rated much higher. I do remember the panthers DB coach(i cannt spell Fisbee jackson....) ran Surtain in some drills at bamas pro-day. Horn >> Sustian too. Id also 100% take Kwity Paye over Sus...

That's what he said on the Rich Eisen podcast. DJ is pretty connected.

DJ had us taking Simmons last year in his final mock.

Simmons wasn’t in the final discussion at 7 last year. It was Brown or trade back and Simmons wasn’t a trade back target either

It's a piece of the puzzle but its not as big a piece as LT

It can definitely help the defense, I'm actually high on getting a solid secondary, especially when you have someone like Burns that will get to the QB given enough time.

If there's no QB though, yeah LT is very difficult to find and might as well take one, even though I think it would just be hand holding Darnold to mediocrity.

@Verge So from your vantage point, is our board something like this?:

1. Penei Sewell

2. Patrick Surtain Jr.

3. Trey Lance

4. Justin Fields

*This assumes Lawrence, Wilson, Jones, Chase, Pitts are off the board. And we still appear pretty quiet about Slater.  Panthers.com did a thing on him one time but I've seen little connecting us.

We are not drafting trey lance.   You can book that.  No way in hades that happens

    • Adding on to that - I know I read from some reporter that Dak Prescott's mentality is extremely fragile. Get in his head, and he loses focus and confidence. Per that reporter,  anytime a big game comes up, he starts to have the jitters and hasn't seem to overcome that slump. Dak would be an upgrade over Bryce as things currently stand. But Dak has not proven he can play in games that matters without choking. Bryce hasn't had the chance to show anything in the NFL, so nothing much to say there. But based on his history, he's done well in college in the national championship. Theoretically he should be more confident in big games if he gets to that point. For that alone, I'd rather keep rolling the dice on Bryce or set our sights higher. I wouldn't touch Dak with a 10 ft pole given his choking habits.
    • Same here brother, love Xavier I think he’s gonna become a quick fan favorite of the team. He already has gone viral for his country accent, we have no face of the franchise currently outside of maybe Derrick Brown in terms of media attention. I would not be surprised if in the next 4 years Xavier becomes that media darling we used to have in the 2010s with Luke, Cam, Josh Norman, CMC, etc.
    • I haven't been high on any of the WRs we drafted in the past.   This kid though is someone I actually wanted. I have a feeling we finally hit big with this kid. I'm expecting him to be a DJ Moore caliber WR.
