Albert Breer also has us taking Fields, believes Tepper is pushing for it.

I'm not buying it.  If Tepper wanted to make sure he got his QB he would have traded up to the 3rd pick (outbid SF) and ensured he got the best of the three remaining.

Tepper hasn't been outspoken about what he wants and I can't see how Breer got the inside scoop.

Click Bait if you ask me.

We called and asked about #3. We deemed the price too high as understandly so.

As much as I want Horn, I think I’d rather see Fields drop to 8 so I can see what happens.

Does Rhule get the trade done and submitted before Tepper drafts Fields...

I hope Rhule has BB on speed dial

Do you think Rhule doesn’t want anything to do with Fields?

I post on the huddle.  I'm going to talk as if David Tepper himself is sitting right here beside me.

Riiiiight 😕

Good luck with that.

You could turn out to be right, but personally I'm more interested in talking football than trying to be Miss Cleo.

I want Fields there just to give us the option. We could take him. We could trade down. Or we could take someone else. But the more options the better and one of the top QB prospects being there should get the phone ringing. I'd be pissed if we jumped on Horn early in the clock if Fields is there. If we aren't taking a QB and the phone is ringing we should at least hear what they have to offer.

They're just over Teddy y'all. The minute it looked like their top QBs were accounted for they moved to replace him with another low cost stop gap QB with potential. That simple.

Only question now: is Fields so much better than Darnold that he's worth us using a high pick?

This is where I'm at.

Am I making predictions or am I talking about what I think we should do?

Think about that for a minute.

Guys here are making a lot of bold statements as if they know what the front office is thinking.

They don't.

That’s what most of the other people in here are saying also.  They are not saying what the team will do but what they think the team should do.

Would you take Trevor with Darnold already on the team?
Would you take Trevor or Wilson with Darnold already on the team?
Would you take Trevor, Wilson, or Fields with Darnold already on the team?
Would you take Trevor, Wilson, Lance, or Fields with Darnold already on the team?

My guess is you might do the first 2.  I would probably do the first 3.  Some others would probably do the first 4 options.

A lot of us are saying the same thing, we just have different thresholds where we change our mind.

See what above?

The Jets wanted to do all of their draft prospect evaluations before deciding whether to trade Darnold or not. We patiently gave them time to do it while also exploring other options and deciding that none of them were worth it. Then ended up actually finalizing the terms of the trade at Justin Fields pro day.

How you take that as proof that they weren't really that interested in him is beyond me. There's no logic to that at all.

It’ll be interesting.

They won’t jump the gun and take Horn without listening to offers. I’m confident in that.

What is the floor pick wise you’d want in return to fall back from 8 to 15?

This is how I feel about it.

If you think Watson was a realistic plan A you are living in a fantasy world. You can't trade for someone that wasn't being offered for trade. Thanks to the legal mess, it doesn't appear as if we'll know how things would have turned out between the Texans and Watson.

If/When they pick up Darnold's option, he won't be a one year rental.

Completely forgot about them being interested in Haskins. Maybe we shouldn't trust them to pick a QB at all.

It doesn’t matter if it was realistic, a vet QB was their first choice if available.

Also, it is now being reported that the Texans were planning to deal Watson this week and had lined up 8 teams for a bidding war.

Of course, that plan fell through weeks ago.

    • Here’s a summary of the JJ and Luke podcast transcript. Opening / Bryce Young Fifth-Year Option     •    JJ: Breaking news — Panthers picked up Bryce Young’s fifth-year option at $25.9M, guaranteed, coming in 2027. Combined with his 2025 salary of ~$6M, that’s $31M over two years — called it a “no-brainer.”     •    Luke: Enthusiastic about the move. Highlighted Bryce’s improving TD/INT ratios (11/10 → 15/9 → 23/11) and the value of entering year three with Dave Canales. Noted $25M is a bargain relative to the $60M top of market. Luke’s Personal Update — Charlotte Christian Football     •    Luke: Working with Charlotte Christian school football program, which hired a new head coach. Coaches include Greg Olsen, Luke, and Greg’s dad Chris Olsen (a New Jersey State coaching Hall of Famer).     •    JJ: Jokingly quipped that Charlotte Christian’s coaching staff is “the world’s greatest” — a Fox analyst, a Hall of Famer, and the best Panthers RB ever — all coaching middle school football.     •    Luke: Praised Chris Olsen’s deep football knowledge spanning decades and his ability to connect with kids. Round 1, Pick 19 — Monroe Freeling, OT, Georgia     •    JJ: Panthers were on the clock and submitted their pick almost immediately — a sign of confidence and preparation. Freeling is 6’7”, 320 lbs, played in the SEC in a pro-style system.     •    Luke: Loved the pick. Emphasized you can never have too many quality offensive linemen. Noted Freeling’s size, athleticism, and arm length as key traits. Said the pick also reflects team’s philosophy of drafting great people, not just great players.     •    JJ: Noted reporter Darren Gantt compared Freeling favorably to Jordan Gross — bigger, heavier, and faster — as a potential franchise left tackle.     •    Luke: Pointed out that young players like Freeling still have physical development ahead of them, comparing the trajectory to Christian McCaffrey’s growth from age 20 onward. Round 2, Pick 49 — Lee Hunter, DT, Texas Tech     •    JJ: Panthers traded up from 51 to 49 (pick swap with Minnesota) to grab Hunter. Played audio from Panthers area scout Kaden McLuhan, who scouted Hunter.     •    Scout Kaden McLuhan (audio): Said Hunter’s size is immediately striking, and that everyone around him spoke glowingly about his character, energy, and love for the game.     •    Luke: Praised Hunter as a massive (6’3”, 320 lbs, ~34” arms) two-gap nose tackle who fits perfectly in the Evero defense. Compared his prospect profile to Akiem Hicks. Said having Derek Brown, Bobby Brown, Derrick Brown, Terson Wharton, and now Hunter creates varied body types that stress offensive linemen.     •    JJ: Noted Hunter ranked third among all prospects in run-stuff rate and sixth in interior pass-rush win rate — addressing a perception that he couldn’t rush the passer. Rounds 3–7 Highlights     •    Luke: Highlighted WR Brazle (3rd round, 6’4”, 437 speed, 1,000+ yards at Tennessee) as the vertical threat the offense needed. Also praised OL Sam Heck (5th round) as a technically sound player whose “short arms” caused him to fall but who has proven himself.     •    Luke: Mentioned CB Will Lee (6’1”, 33” arms) fits the Panthers’ DB prototype — big, long corners.     •    Luke: Praised S/LB hybrid Zaki Wheatley (5th round, 6’3”) as a big nickel similar to Trayvon Merek.     •    Luke: Excited about the linebacker competition between Devin Lloyd, Trevvin Wallace, and Claudin Cherless.     •    JJ: Noted Panthers had the #1 “steal/overreach” rating in the entire draft — drafting players lower than consensus big boards projected. Around the League     •    Luke: Admitted being “a little jealous” that the Miami Dolphins drafted LB Jacob Rodriguez (Luke’s favorite LB in the draft). Has personal connections to Miami’s coaching staff (Jeff Hafley, DC Shawn Dugen — a childhood teammate).     •    Luke: Also noted Miami’s selection of OT/G Kaden Proctor out of Alabama, who will likely move to guard. League Trends — Bigger Tight Ends / 12 & 13 Personnel     •    JJ: Observed the NFL saw its highest run rate in ~11 years (~52%) and a notable pivot toward big blocking tight ends in this draft.     •    Luke: Explained the cyclical nature of NFL offense/defense evolution — as defenses get smaller to match spread offenses, teams counter with bigger personnel (12/13 formations), which then forces defenses to get bigger at the nickel/“big nickel” spot. Called it an ongoing arms race.
