Bold Prediction

Scribble it down, save it, hold me accountable. Here are by bold predictions for 2021. No I’m not gonna wait until August, that’s how bold this is.

1. Quarterbacks

Sam Darnold holds it down. Doesn’t go to the Pro Bowl but does well enough to keep his job in 2022 and competition off his back. Will Grier makes a surprise, wins the back up role in the pre-season from working with Sean Ryan and fitting Brady’s system better than PJ. Tommy Stevens earns QB3 role for his versatility and Peyton Ramsey is on the practice squad.

2. Middle Linebacker

Denzel Perryman turns out not to be the answer at MLB and has another injury riddled season and Jermaine Carter fills the role with his mediocrity. Shaq Thompson gets traded at season end.

3. Safety

The Panthers find a starting FS on this roster that surprises everyone.

4. Wide Receiver

DJ Moore gets extended before the season, Robby Anderson becomes the big question mark in the offseason, Terrace Marshall becomes Dwayne Jarrett enters bust territory. David Moore over performs.

5. Corner

AJ Bouye experiment fails. Troy Pride shows improvement and takes the nickel role. Jackson gets the franchise tag which leads to a trade or outrageous extension that gets discussed on the huddle for 5 years. Horn is the new Chris Gamble.

6. Offensive Line

Little gets hurt before the season, doesn’t make the team. Erving fails at LT. Christenson isn’t a LT but fits at G. Paradis gets a team friendly deal. Moton gets his long term extension.

Panthers go into the off season with 3 clear objectives.

1. Anderson/Jackson talks

2. Find the LT at all costs.

3. Rebuild LB corps.

Change my mind.

I have put a reminder on my calendar for January 10th to see how close I am.

Terrace Marshall is a hard worker, has great character, and has a high football IQ. You comparing him to Dwayne Jarrett is simply ludicrous. Really!

    • Care to elaborate why you disagree? We kicked the ball off 3 times and we kept the Browns to starting field position of the 22, 27, and 10 (would have been 21 before a penalty). All 3 of those are successes with the modern kickoff rule.
    • Its August so obviously quality options are not there. The question is whether any improvement can be made to the bottom of the depth chart.
    • NFL has a huge amount of parity.  The talent level between most NFL starters outside of the top 5 to 10 guys at a position is very comparable.  2020 worst teams Jacksonville Jaguars - 1-15 (worst record in NFL) New York Jets - 2-14 Cincinnati Bengals - 4-11-1 Atlanta Falcons - 4-12 Houston Texans - 4-12 Carolina Panthers - 5-11 Detroit Lions - 5-11 Philadelphia Eagles - 4-11-1 Los Angeles Chargers - 7-9 Denver Broncos - 5-11 2024 Worst teams New York Giants - 3-14 (tied for worst) Cleveland Browns - 3-14 (tied for worst) Tennessee Titans - 3-14 (tied for worst) New England Patriots - 4-13 Carolina Panthers - 5-12 Jacksonville Jaguars - 4-13 Las Vegas Raiders - 4-13 New York Jets - 5-12 Chicago Bears - 5-12 Arizona Cardinals - 8-9 Bengals, Texans, Lions, Eagles, Broncos and the Jags have all made the the playoffs in the last 3 years. What I'm saying is it's stupid to argue when team is the worst when there is so much parity and the system allows quick turnarounds.
