I feel they most likely edited out any QB discussions at 8 (or moving up).

Interesting at 6:11 of the vid when Rhule listed the players they liked, that FIELDS was NOT one of them.

It's probable they edited out any QB discussion, but it's also clear from the clips surrounding the acquisition of Sam Darnold that they a) bought into the age thing and b) compared him to the QBs coming out in the draft. They are all in on Darnold. Let's hope that was the right decision.

The other name you didn't see at all was Rashawn Slater...

The Teddy Bridgewater trade stuff was interesting as well. Tepper and Rhule both make comments to George Patton that they wanted to do right by Teddy. I'm sure that makes Teddy's recent comments sting all the more.

I also really hope they let George Patton know there were cameras rolling during the call.

For the folks who are familiar with the stadium… where was the Draft Room located?  At one point it looked like one of the club lounges.  Anybody know for sure?

It may have been.

Possible they might have needed more space than usual for social distancing.

Other sources actually confirmed there was no quarterback discussion.

The feigned interest in Fields was fishing for trade offers.

what a whiff... haha.

At the same time, Bills traded ahead of us in Beane's first year to draft Zae Jones.. they really thought they outsmarted us. We ended up with Curtis Samuel. If I remember correclty Zae was our target, funny how things work out.

Even decent GMs like Beane get it wrong.

Beane was also the one who initiated the Kelvin Benjamin trade.

People think it was our idea. It wasn't.

They could have waited, and we paid a lot for him to leave...but of course they were going to say that, they knew they were on camera.

I would pie more than once if I could.

Hate that thread.

I'd have to agree that story looks pretty bogus now.

They were also on the phone with George Paton so I don't really think that talk was just for the cameras.

More to the point though, they didn't just talk about it. They actually did do right by him.

    • Yes, he's a tier above them, but you also touched on the money side of it.  With T-Mac locked in as our #1 on a rookie contract for a few more years, I'd much rather use that money that would be needed for DJ on our defense and develop Coker into our #2.   Especially given his contract situation as an UDFA, as his contract is up at the end of this year but we can keep him around for a 3rd team controlled year on the real cheap.  Which means we probably could get him to sign a very reasonable extension this offseason to give him a little more money while giving us a bargain contract for what he provides. DJ's contract is north of $20 million for the next 5 years, why pay that for your #2 WR with the needs we have on defense and you have guys like Coker, XL, and Horn on rookie contracts who very well could combine to be a serviceable 2-4 WRs behind a stud in T-mac? I love DJ and he'd be a great fit on this team as our #2, but the money side of it just makes absolutely zero sense, that's all it comes down to for me on this one. And no, I don't see the Bears wanting XL back in that trade, because they drafted Burden, who is essentially a better version of what XL provides, a player you want to get the ball into their hands and let them go to work.
    • I didnt see that many bad calls in the panthers cowboys game, but the chiefs especially in the playoffs were getting every single call they could get then the refs when it didnt matter would throw a call towards the other teams.  That I believe was the taylor swift effect.   But its crazy just thinking about how easy it is to change a game.  You dont need but a single ref to make a few close calls go towards one team over the other and in the nfl that is the game.
    • I don't think it's unrealistically blaming Bryce Young......to say has been a reason, sometimes a big one, in why our pass offense overall has been extremely week over the past 3 collective seasons.  I think that bothering anyone, is just being overly invested in some Bryce Young argument.  It's just a reality.
