The Darnold pick was on Ian. He ran the wrong route and puts his hands on a ball intended for Robby. Ian looked like he was intercepting the ball, haha.

Judging by the positioning of the rest of the receivers, Ian was supposed to break inside.

I saw rhule say that. But looking at darnolds first interception idk if it was Ian Thomas or Robby Anderson that ran the wrong route. It looked like the ball was intended for Robby and Ian put his hands on it causing Robby to whiff.

Given what was said earlier in the off-season about Thomas not learning the playbook last year and Robby seemingly being prepared it’s not hard to see why I would think that one was on thomas

Yeah, I just don't trust Thomas.  I'd be fine if we just kept Sulivan instead and ran with Arnold and Tremble as 1 and 2.

excited for the pads to come on so we can start seeing how the o line shakes out, and obviously so the guys can really get to work sorting things out

Me too.  We'll all have a better idea where we are when they're on.  Tomorrow.  Its like Christmas Eve.

Yikes. First career pass was a pick six and he threw two in the same game last year.

They won that away game btw 48-17.  If Darnold is anything he's resilient.  He ended that game with a 116.8 passer rating.  Know who else started their career with a pick 6?  Brett Favre.

Just sayin

Just how often do you suppose we will win if our qb throws multiple pick sixes though? Favre threw a ton of picks overall. 336 total and only less than 13 in a season once and as many as 29 in a single season. He had a lengthy career but that was a different time. Sam will need that resiliency in our division but we gotta keep him upright. We'll see.

I was just pointing out that Sam recovered in his first game after that first pass that you mentioned.  Hopefully its an analogy for his career, with the jets being the int.

Well I guess we found the dick who will be moaning every time Darnald throws a pick.

Funny the guy who had a Kyle Allen avatar for months would be this sensitive over the slightest Sam Darnold criticism 🤣

I know supporting our QB is a weird concept to you. I'm sure you are super fun at parties. 🙄

Quote the posts where I have said he sucks he should be cut he will never be good or that I don't want him. Not overlooking mistakes or flaws is not the same as being unsupportive. With this logic would you argue that for the better part of ten years a substantial portion of the Panthers fanbase was not supportive of Cam Newton? 🤔

    • It's not only about the draft spots, the scheduling is a huge factor. We already have a tough 2026 schedule by playing the North divisions, that's possibly 7 playoff contenders there and a few true SB contenders between the Lions, Packers, Vikings, Bears, Ravens, Bengals, and Steelers (Browns will still suck lol), while also pulling the AFC West for the 17th game. Let's just say for the sake of argument we are going to be true contenders in 2026 in both scenarios Would you rather go 9-8 and to make the playoffs as the last WC or worst division winner, lose in the first round and then have to add likely the Eagles/Commanders, 49ers/Rams, and Chiefs/Chargers to an already tough schedule because we have a 1st/2nd round finish this year, while picking 19th in the draft (where the worst playoff team picks) or Or lose an extra game to finish 8-9, while ending up in 3rd (obviously need Falcons/Bucs to get a WC spot) and miss the playoffs, but then get to add likely the Cowboys/Giants, Seahawks/Cardinals, Broncos/Raiders to the schedule while picking 13th in the draft (the highest an 8-9 team picked this year). I can understand why some people would just want to go to the playoffs again, and I can't fault that thinking.  But I'm always a bigger picture person and looking at what is best for the future of the franchise and winning a SB, not my immediate feelings that game/season.   So I'm taking those 3 SIGNIFICANTLY easier games and the 6 better draft spots. If we're a true contender in 2026, those 3 games based on divisional finish could very well be the difference of a 1 vs whatever seed.  Right now the top teams in the NFC are the teams who play in places you don't want to have road playoff games at... GB, Detroit, Philly are some of the toughest stadiums to play in, especially if cold weather games for the outdoors ones.  Give me the few extra easier games to hopefully make the difference in getting home field advantage. Making the playoffs to just lose in the first round isn't worth the first scenario to me when the alternative is losing maybe one or two more games while looking better while doing so.  I can stomach those extra losses in a much improved season when it's for the betterment of our future.
    • We also watched Cam take Carolina to the SB but how much did his career change when he went to the Pats? See how that works? You create a post just to rag on player on another team just because you hate. You love to do this stuff. I've seen it for a few years. You are one of the main problems on this site. Not just y0u but you're definitely one of them. This topic should be in the nfl general chat. As a mod I would think you would understand that but no. The mods need mods around here.  This is for Panther's material. Can a real mod move this thread to it's proper place please?
