I want to see Darnold complete most of his passes and have plenty of time to throw.

I want to see the first string defense dominate and get a turnover.

I want to see CMC break off a decent run then get on the bench.

Is Erving playing?

No idea. They haven't announced any of that though.

But I would be shocked if he did. They are treating him like he is very fragile, which he is.

This is a slow motion disaster in the making.

I hope they know something we don't because I would have already benched him now and made the switch. He can't stay healthy anyway, so depth is his best shot at available the longest.

Rhule talks about his "best five" linemen a lot, and at the moment, that still includes left tackle Cameron Erving. Taylor Moton moving from right to left is a subject of continual fascination, but even though Erving is not universally loved by the people who rank players at PFF or by the popular consciousness, the team is choosing to see him as a glass-half-full.

Because of some schematic things they plan to do, they think his athleticism serves him well. He's never been a particularly durable player, but they're working on that too, and trying to keep his weight up and giving him time when he needs it.

It's not a sure thing, but they feel OK about him starting and Moton staying where he's best.

He shouldn't be playing in any preseason games....

    • I think the qualification has changed over time though. A deep ball play used to take 4 to 6 seconds for the receiver to get to that spot on the field. Now a receiver can be there in 2.5. That's less time than most QBs have to set and throw. In my mind a deep route takes time to develop. A crossing route and a deep route can't take the same amount of time at full speed. You can have 4 deep balls on the same drive,  almost 5 if you do 5 20 yard throws goal line to goal line. That doesn't even make sense when you say it out loud.
    • The sad part is it looks manicured enough that he's aware it's running away from him.  Also, I just wanted to give you some fun loving grief on King Haynes today having a chance to throw a game winning TD, and was wildly errant, and ultimately picked off to end the game.  So happy I won't have to hear anything else about The Golden Calf of Bristol lite ever again watching college football.
    • I just think Panthers believe in Bryce far more than the fans do and he is most likely going to be the QB at least the next two seasons. the real shot of us moving from Bryce is not getting an extension, till then they are going to give him every chance to succeed and I just want to win.
