no, not much…..but he has weapons he’s gelling with.

Sam Darnold-Terrace Marshall Jr. connection grows

According to the media in attendance, the developing chemistry between quarterback Sam Darnold and rookie wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. is growing at an encouraging rate. The former LSU stud has been a smash hit throughout the preparation period, only adding to the embarrassment of riches at the Carolina Panthers’ disposal in 2021.

Darnold has also grown in stature with every passing week. His production made huge strides once the pads came on and there is a conviction to the player’s decisions that was seldom seen during his time with the New York Jets.

Not only will Marshall assist right from the outset. But his size, physicality, and ability to get open quickly make him a supreme red-zone threat that the entire league needs to take seriously.

Of course, much will depend on just how the protection in front of Darnold gets on. Some serious questions remain about the group outside of right tackle Taylor Moton, so we’ll get a far better look at them in the preseason finale on Friday night.

The questions about Darnold always were about processing so that comment is encouraging.

Of course I'd rather it be "omg who knew how amazing Darnold would be outside NY!!!"... But the reality is it was never going to be that fast a turnaround, if one happens at all

If Rhule coaches these guys up the way he did last year I think we surprise some teams. We may still be a year away, but the talent is shaping up at many positions.

This is the Matt Rhule way.
Year 1 - lose, but look good and be competitive in most all games

Year 2 - vastly improved. Almost there, but still some growing pains.

Year 3 - Go Time. poo gets real and we start challenging for titles and championships.

    • The panthers are such a trash organization at this point that all the huddle can do is argue about which panthers team is historically the worst…good times.
    • Well, hope they're not worried about a torn Labrum or Rotator Cuff, as someone who went through that myself, I know those don't have anything show up on X-Rays but from the MRI, so this is kinda a nothing update, hope it's not a tear or his season is already over if they decide to do surgery now. Which is basically what would be needed to get him to 100% for the start of next season's training camp if it's a labrum.  If he plays the season with it and then does surgery, he's not going to be ready for camp and probably not the start of the season either.
    • I always try to not pay much attention to a team’s preseason win/loss record. The 1982 Washington and 2021 LA Rams both lost every game in the preseason and went on to win the Super Bowl, whereas the 2008 Detroit Lions and 2017 Cleveland Browns both won every game in reason and went on to lose every regular season game. There’s many examples of teams that lose in preseason that go on to have good seasons, but equally there are teams that lose in preseason and that continues in the regular season. Which will we be?  I think our floor is a handful of wins, while our ceiling will probably be around the 9-10 win mark. The latter will require significant improvement from the whole team and coaching staff, and will also need Bryce to play like the QB we drafted him to be. I want to be optimistic and predict a winning season, but it’s really difficult as a Panthers fan!
