Rodgers, Russell, Watson, Stafford.

We've had our eyes on each one of these.  Shake your head if you want, but that's my feeling.

Will we get one?  Who knows, but we almost got one of them...heavy interest in another, and two more likely coming on the market next offseason.

Stafford said he would turn down trade here so I would say if he doesn’t want to be here, why would any of the others?

Why are you asking questions we can't answer?  Also did Stafford have a trade clause in his contract?

I'm just saying that we are keeping our options open, no idea what will happen, but so far, we have been in the chase for two top tier QB's...I don't think that we are done yet.

Stafford didn't want to come here because we didn't look like a contender, and LA did. That's not an inaccurate assessment.

As for next offseason, if we have a terrible year, we'll be no more appealing to an aging veteran franchise QB than we were this offseason, and if we have a great year, we still won't be appealing because it'll probably be because Sam did pretty good, and we won't be seen as having an opening at the QB spot.

We need to save it for contract extensions

Some cap wiz needs to confirm but there is only so much we can rollover based on a crap ton of things. I *think* we have to 80% and in a certain 4 year time period and also the rest of the nfl needs to use a certain amount.

And maybe some other stuff, I’m not sure of the specifics (it gets really messy) but I agree we need to save as much as possible to sign Moore and Burns who will not be cheap.

That was also before this season.  If we go out and kick some ass this year, or at least show a lot of improvement on offense, why wouldn't one of them want to come here?

I've seen some numbers posted here I don't believe are correct.

Cutting more leaves with 625k dead cap this year and next.  Total of 1.25 mill in dead cap.

Total cap savings for the 2 years are 3.5 million.  Easy decision to make for WR4, who Shi make push down to WR5.

So add 2.5 mill in cap space to next years total.

And add 6 mill in dead cap next year when we cut Shaq.  And add 12 mill in cap savings at the same time.

Those 2 moves alone give us 14.5 mill more cap space for 2022.

future's so bright...

I got to think we sign a stud guard/center and release Elflein as well.

If we do "go out and kick some ass this year", that would pretty much mean Darnold had a great year. Why would they want to come here? Why would we want them?

    • This draft is 2023 all over again, it's not hard to see. QB's who don't grade out as high first round prospects while at the same time, the following draft class looks to be loaded with elite QB prospects. Drafting a QB just because you need one (or making a bad trade to make said draft pick), when there isn't one worthy of that draft pick, is how you ruin franchises, just look at us right now.
    • I upgraded to the S24+ a few weeks back. Very happy with it.
    • LOL... Yet again proving you can't look below anything than what you see on the surface Mock drafts ARE NOT draft grades They are what people think will happen.  They are mocking teams taking QB's in the top 5 of the draft because that's just historically how drafts go regardless of the grades on the QBs.  Almost every draft expert, even those mocking QB's going high, have said time and time again that none of these QB's actually grade out as those type of picks. This is again, where I say you don't like to actually read what I have to say, because I already explained it. 2022 the exact same thing happened, mock drafts had guys like Pickett and Willis going in the Top 5 because that's just what teams usually do, but GM's listened to their prospect grades and knew they weren't worth taking that high, so they didn't. It's not to say QB's won't go that high this year, but it's to say that they aren't graded out as elite QB prospects.   And yes, I've never said I'm not a T-Mac homer. But me being that doesn't change that he will be the highest graded offensive player in this year's draft, at a position we haven't been able to solve since we lost Smitty.  Taking him makes all the sense in the world, my bias aside.
