Yeah.  This isnt even debatable.  Still early I know but everything that has been coming out about slater is he is going to be a stud.    Moton and Slater........poo man thats like a porn movie to me

Yeah it's pretty unforgiveable that we yet again put OL on the backburner.  It seemed like the obvious pick when you are bringing in Darnold after his experience in NY. And even if Darnold doesn't pan out you have something in place ahead of the 2022 draft.  I think with Slater we would have a legitimate shot at the postseason this year.

True, they don’t know the plays but most football people can sit down and watch a game and figure out the assignments on most plays.  Even if they are wrong 10% of the time that margin of error will probably end up being applied fairly evenly across all of the players.

Here again name a better source for grading all of the players relative to each other?

You just got done telling us in this thread that people watching the game didn't get the full picture. Now they do? 

"here again" - just because something exists does not make it good and valuable. If you're saying it's interesting purely for the point of spurring message board discussion, sure, but it is just the opinion of people that, as PFF advertises, they "don't care whether you played or not."

I enjoy helping people understand how things work.

Most arguments about PFF are wrong, or at the very least incomplete, and if people took time to actually understand how they work they would realize that. 

Instead they just try to act like one of the cool kids and just baselessly bash them, although they have yet ever presented a better alternative.

good and bad are relative terms.  Fans don't understand that when watching players.  They create an artificial standard in their head of what constitutes good play out of a player and that is what they compare players to.

For example, fan watches LT give up 5 sacks, and 20 pressures on the season.  Fan thinks LT is trash because the fan is unrealistic and expects the QB to have 6 secs to throw on every pass.  In reality maybe 5 sacks and 20 pressures would actually put that LT in the top third of LTs, so in reality that LT is good.

Going back and rewatching the OL now.

Not only did Elflein kill the drive with that awful holding call, he got put on skates on 3rd down on the incomplete pass to TMJ.

Erving threw the DE to the ground on the first run play of the drive. 😮

Jets just played great defense on the second drive.

Nobody looked bad until Elflein did on back-to-back-to-back snaps on offensive drive #3. On the 26yd pass to DJ, Elflein got beat real bad and got Sam hit. The next play, he leaks out to block on a screen and just whiffs entirely. The play after, him and Daley get destroyed inside but DJ once again bails them out with a 27yd catch. Erving gets beat on the play after during the incompletion to TMJ. Daley doesn't pull in time on the following play, but Erving + Elflein both get decent downfield blocks and CMC rolls for 7. Arnold gets ANNIHILATED on the 3rd & 3 quick snap but doesn't really effect the play, just worth mentioning because he got ragdolled. The fumble happened right after when Darnold + Ricci bump.

Drive #4 for the offense. Great snap for Elflein who gets a big jab on the DL before swimming over for the screen, only to then be in front of the same DL on the screen who he keeps out of the play. Paradis and Daley both get owned on the next snap while Elflein completely whiffs against the LB on his downfield block. Good blocking overall by the OL aside from that Paradis/Daley moment as the drive ends in 3.

Drive #5 is the play action shot to RA for a touchdown. CMC does an amazing job blocking as Rhule mentioned, but what he didn't mention was that he was blocking the man that just beat Daley inside. Sam moves in the pocket to by Robby time and then drops a dime. RA had to slow up for it, but he was already so far behind the back-up safety that it didn't matter.

Drive #6 to end the half. Daley gets beat again and gets Sam hit, but Sam gets it out just in time to CMC who would've been GONE had the DB not tripped him up. Elflein missed BAD but lucky for him Paradis got shoved into the DL as they beat Elflein. CMC bailed them out again on the drive when Sam stood tall despite Erving getting beat and Elflein + Moton getting pushed back into him. That catch and run by CMC set up the Sam TD run.

Elflein clearly the worst player on the OL in the 1st half followed by Daley. Moton looked solid all around while Paradis + Erving both had up and down moments but were decent overall.

      I know it's only been training camp and one preseason game, but I think T-Mac has already shown his floor to be exactly what I said about him in the pre-draft process. That his floor if he never improves his game, is as one of the best #2 WRs in the NFL, if not even still a low end #1 (i.e. a 25th-ish best WR in the league). I think it's safe to say he's already established himself as our #1, and there are only a small handful of teams in the league where I don't think he'd be their starting #2 WR in Week 1. Bengals (Higgins), Dolphins (Waddle), Eagles (Smith), Bucs (Godwin if healthy), Rams (Adams) are really the only teams where I think he'd be the #3 as a rookie in Week 1.  A few others like the Lions (Williams), Bears (Odunze), Seahawks (Kupp), Commanders (Deebo), where he'd be the 2b to start the season, just because they're vets and/or already have a year or two of experience with their team/QB. And even having said that, I think by year 2, he's better than every one of those players (And no, I'm not saying he's already going to be better than a prime version of Adams, just whatever he'll be at 33 next year), and same goes for Kupp, but that's more because it seems like his body might be quitting on him in a way that hasn't happened to Adams (yet).

      Well to be fair, Horn not practicing right now to let his stitches heal up from a car accident isn't something that should be concerning.  Sure, you don't want him missing practice leading into the season, but it's one that once healed, won't have lingering affects or fear of re-injuring it, it was just bad luck.

      Quality backups are absolutely important. This franchise has been plagued with depth problems. That said, there is a little bit of dismay that Mays can't beat out a 1-legged man, and all the talk going into the off-season was how BC would certainly be gone since he had position versatility.  In the end, it doesn't matter too awfully much, as I would be shocked to no end if Corbett makes it through the season. We know what we have in reserve, and that should surely be better than trying to sign random fat guys mid season to try and take over.
