I agree that our O-line probably isn't as bad as a lot of Huddlers think, same was true last year, but you can't just judge an o-line off of sacks and pressures.

Sacks and pressures are not just O-line and D-lines stats.  They are products of the QB and OC also.  WR's and the secondary also have a huge influence on them also.  How many sacks happen after a QBs first read is covered?

Fact is our system and play calling is very O-line friendly.  Just because our offense if functioning somewhat well that doesn't mean our O-line couldn't improve.

Personally, I am more concerned about run blocking, or lack thereof at this point in the season.  Right now, we are bottom five in the league in ypc, even with CMC back.  Of course, the Saints have a very good run defense, and the Jets run d wasn't bad last year.  But we don't get much push, especially in short yardage situations.

I'm right there with you on that. They have to get the run game going and fast.  It will open up so much more of the offense and help Sam exponentially in the passing game.

I agree.    We schemed  to get the ball out quick which is OL friendly and have the best RB in football who still get yards when there is no hole.    We also max protect for deeper drops like on the Robby 57 yarder in the jets game.  We know our OL isn't the best and we scheme around it.

I'm not against upgrading the OL, even mid season.

I'm just trying to give props to OL for two pretty good games that exceeded expectations that resulted in two wins, especially after the huddle has denigrated them for months.

If don't have holes to run on Thursday, I'll be very disappointed.

I wouldn't say disappointed, maybe concerned is more appropriate from my perspective.

The run game is crucial to the success of this season in my book.  Both establishing it to stopping it.  The rest should take care of itself, theoretically.

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
