Why Aren't Christensen & Brown Playing?

This is a legit inquiry for those with thoughts on the matter, I recall Brady getting some snaps a game or two ago as the 6th O-Lineman on a run and Deonte has been inactive for 4 games.

The left side of the OL has regressed each week it ''feels'' like, and as ''meh'' as Elflein was playing could Daley actually be worse?

I know they said Brady and the shorter arms, but he played LT over RT in college, and is the most athletic O-Lineman on the roster I think we need to see him, he can't be worse than Erving or could he 🤷‍♂️

Deonte per the team has lost roughly 30 pounds, and is in the 330's per a Rhule presser a few weeks back, I'm just tired of seeing our interior OL knocked off the spot and back into the pocket as our interior at is fairly light (low 300s on Elf and Dice). I'd like to see what this young man can do, and hopefully we don't wait as long as we did for Whitehead to be benched.

I have no idea if these young men are ready, but I think we could use a spark, I understand wanting to and why you'd field a veteran OL with a younger QB, but PHI DL is stout as well, anchored by Cox, if the veterans can't get it done, we might need to see what the young guys can do.

Options (Left to Right)

  • Moton / Brown / Paradis / Miller / Christensen

Clearly the staff don't believe they are ready.

I said in another thread, I would like to see BC getting more than just five ST snaps.  Give him a series or two.  We saw him, and I understand why he isn't in there.  Still, there is only so much he can grow sitting on the bench.  I'm not saying he should start, but he should get a bit more opportunity.

With Deonte, I would feel better if he were getting on the bench.  But I do understand why he isn't.  At best, he may get those ST snaps.  His lack of positional flexibility is a problem when he isn't starting.  And starting him doesn't seem like it's in the cards.

You and I only see what's on the field. We aren't privy to what is happening in practice, the film rooms or positional groups work. The coaches have all that information.

Christensen and Brown are on the bench, or without a uniform, because they aren't ready yet. It is as simple as that. Rhule isn't just trying to lose games and keep some genius rookies hidden from the league's eyes.

If either were good enough, ripe on the vine so to say, they'd have been out there.

Likely because the coaches don't think they're ready.

And yeah, they may actually be right.

I'm all for seeing them play too but I'm not yet convinced we're dealing with another Ron Rivera.

Well the guys they have playing now are Definitely not ready....nor will they ever be. Take the rookie with the most potential and play him, the other rook Asap.

They can't proceed with 'the less then JAG's' they have on the field now.

    • You can't say that with any certainty at all. Bryce played the worst football of any rookie ever. His mechanics and footwork have nothing to do with Frank, DC or anyone else. All those ints and fumbles, yep, those are Bryce too.  Bryce and Stroud are 2 different QBs. Just because Bryce had one complete game in year 3 vs Atlanta doesnt mean he could have led a team to the playoffs his rookie year.
    • I added a question mark to your question. Also bolded it to look prettier.
    • I don't understand the tone, I gave you my ranking, that's it.  And yes, I still view Lawrence and Kyler are still ahead, in my opinion, which doesn't really mean much lol.  What's this have to do with being a fan ffs? I will say, they are at the end of the list/the more arguable/debatable guys.  So open to debate but it seems you're going straight to the "you're not a fan" debate.  Which is super annoying. Maybe I'd agree Bryce could be ~19-20 on the list if the argument was laid out instead.  His Atlanta game was better than anything they have done in recent memory, but he's had like 10 other games this season.   He is way more inconsistent in my view, due to a few factors... Shotty footwork - he has a shallow lazy step back from gun that puts an OL in an impossible place.  Goes on his toes wayyy to much more my liking. Poor upper body mechanics.  His upper body remains parallel to the LOS and has to perform that rapid twitch/turn motion to get in stance His shallow drops also create a lack of sight lines so he can't layer throws well He's had poor pocket presence - not last week, but it's been a thing   Pure traits standpoint Arm strength is mediocre Mobility is mediocre - can outrun at times but quicker IDLs can catch him Accuracy is a range due to his inconsistency - can be above average to very poor.  His career so far has been pretty bad with intermediates (which again was not the case against ATL) Ball Security Way too sensitive to fumbling Has exhibited very poor decision making, especially in first halves that put the team behind This all does NOT take away that he had a GREAT performance against ATL.  He was able to extend plays, found guys post-route in stride, the XL throw in Q3 was fantastic, a few of the Coker crossers were beauts.  There's no disputing that.   But yeah, in totality, it hasn't looked good but he absolutely cooked last week. Outside of that, he's only had 5 other 250 yard passing games in his entire career.  He stalls on drives, makes annoying turnovers, doesn't see the right guys.  It's okay to both say that and the fact that he balled tf out last week.  I hope he continues so we get better and maybe can make some noise.  Big test on Monday.
