How'd that work out last season?

What Bridgewater does isn't "protecting the ball". I could get behind that.

Playing scared? Not so much.

What great defense did Bridgewater play with last season.  Defense was dead last on 3rd downs with getting off the field.  This year we either ranked #1 or at the very tops in the league, defense is getting the ball back to the offense, and we're not doing much with it.

Much risk, very little reward so far.

Both teams are 3-2 at the same point of the season.  With two different ranked defenses.

As was discussed numerous times late last season, defense did enough in several games to give us an opportunity to put it away. Several games in a row, we were saying "here's another chance for a game-winning drive".

Teddy couldn't do it.

And so far neither has Sam. Thankfully he has a much better defense and hasn't needed any "game winning drives" except for yesterday of his own doing with the turnovers.

I'm Panthers fan first and foremost so I want Donald to succeed, but I also call a spade a spade. And moving on from Teddy to bring Donald here was a lateral move at best and we traded away draft picks to do it.

Definitely don't agree.

I don't know what Darnold will be yet, but I don't doubt that he's better than Bridgewater.  I think some folks are letting current issues alter their memory of just how bad Bridgewater was.

I'll take a quarterback who takes risks over one who plays it safe tem times out of ten, even in a WCO.

I think since we are having Jets-like OL play, we are seeing Jets-like Sam Darnold.

His ceiling is probably lower than we want but it's hard to get super upset at him when we knew he was a streaky player and didn't play well under pressure but we assembled a bottom 5 OL unit in front of him.

Bottom five??....how about the bottom of the bottom. I am convinced that many college Olines are better then what they put on the field. Fuggin inept staff knew exactly what Sam had been through previosly.

They put him in exactly the same scenerio that he had failed in.

I stand by it. Investing in a project then abandoning ship at the first bad performance is just stupid. Same sort of week-to-week tunnel vision that had yall trying to dump Cam for Kyle Allen.

If Sam Darnold is the hill you're willing to die on, even after watching his last months worth of performances, then so be it, I suppose.

    • it's pretty simple IMO.  The Tepper Panthers are the most unsuccessful professional sports in all of sports.  The problem isn't the posters here have changed.  The product dictates the atmosphere more than anything.  In reality, the daily convos about THE worst team in all of pro sports on a fanatics site....is going to feature harsh and critical convo.  Only one entity can actually change that.  It's the Carolina Panthers football team.
    • Yes message boards will always include that sort of stuff… However, this place has been a cess pool since the team took Bryce Young over CJ Stroud. It becomes a problem when it is accepted and promoted, which it has been here (even by at least one mod). Many posters sole purpose on this board is to try to dunk on others for having different opinions. We just had one write a novella on how talking about Bryce Young’s game winning drives “needs to stop”…after a win. They don’t want real conversation. It “needs to stop”. There are many posters here who literally only show up after losses to dead thread and try to dunk on others about the QB (MRenshaw is an easy example). I really don’t see much of that happening the other way around. There’s too many people that would rather the team be bad so they can feel justified for constant doom and gloom and negative opinions. It’s been pointed out by many over the past couple years. This just isn’t a place to have football discussions anymore because of the constant hyperbole. If you don’t subscribe to “Bryce Young is the worst QB ever who can’t throw the ball further than 5 yards and is the reason why we lose any game we lose and doesn’t help in any game we win”, then you are labeled a Bryce Young Stan.
    • if you believe he is watching every NFL game.....every week.....go right ahead.  I get it, he said something you like.  But that's like believing the talking heads on the ESPN shows are watching all the games.  You think Stephen A is watching the Panthers every Sunday too?  If Stephen A needs to go on First Take he certainly can pretend like he has watched every snap any player on the roster has taken lol.   No one is that isn't a Panther fan has been watching the 9-25 career go down every Sunday.  Or even a lot of Sunday's.  You know who knows more about Bryce Young than Long? The collective huddle.  What they are reviewing is stat sheets, highlights and in summaries.  It's an old formula lol.
