Oh poo check yo back Sam

The dreaded "Vote of Confidence".

This Sunday's game against the Giants is basically Endgame for Sam.

He better play well and win.

That's all I'll say.

But I still don't buy that we're acquiring Watson.

I just can't see Tepper wanting that type of DISTRACTION as a part of the franchise.

Also, I just can't see Fitterer giving up 3 first-rounders.

I keep saying that and people just choose to ignore it like I never said it.

Fitterer is very unlikely to give up 3 first-rounders to get someone who will more than likely not be available for a couple of seasons(and when he's available, will cast a dark cloud whenever he's on the field).

Sam Darnold ain't the answer. The last three games have been brutal and this was never the QB solution owner David Tepper was sold on in the first place. Too many turnovers. Too few big plays. Not enough completions. Without RUN CMC, it is particularly ugly. Tepper has long wanted Watson. At some point he may get him. But after going through Teddy Bridgewater and now Darnold, the Panthers are making one splash or another at QB next year.

Poor Man's Baker Mayfield will likely get overdrafted(1st round) but I certainly hope we aren't the team doing it.

I sure hope we are. People who claim he's having a down year aren't actually watching the games. UNC has one of the worst OLs in D1 college football and exactly one producing WR. What Howell is doing given the situation is remarkable.

Howell is physically comparable to Mayfield but I think he has a lot more between the ears.

Sam was a big gamble by Fit.  Doesn't look good.  They will double down because it's almost make or break for Rhule and him.   It was a big gamble passing on QBs in the draft.  Yes the line is bad but Sam has yet to show any deep ball accuracy on passes he should land.  He misses open receivers often.  He makes bad decisions and panics.  I believe he has all the physical tools but lacks the mental side of football.  Kind if like Jameis.  With a mediocre line I think we are a playoff team still but I think he still makes mistakes and has us at early outs in playoffs.  He just isn't that guy but I really hope I am wrong.

In those GiFs the line looks to be doing damn well. Was that from last year? Was gonna say which one o dem OL is eligible.

Oline or not he is at best an average athlete with average size with an average arm.   Locks onto his wideouts and gets happy feet in the pocket.  He did this last season with a good oline.  He does throw a nice deep ball but I pray to God Darnold turns it around and we dont hitch our wagon to this.   Like kungfo says someone will probably fall in love with him in the top 10 but he is nowhere near worthy.

Where would he fit in this past years draft?   Probably after Mac Jones.  Thats telling.

The crazy thing is the OL is the same. They did play really well last year and they've been trash this year. Turns out, they were just floated by having two NFL RBs. Take away those two drafted RBs and two drafted WRs and they get exposed while Howell and Josh Downs perform heroics to carry the offense.

    • Purdy only passed for 127 yards week 18 and then only passed for 108 yards in the playoffs. In those two games he had 0 TD's and 2 INT's and a fumble. Mayes in the Superbowl had a total of 63 yards with 0 TDS at the 13 minute mark in the fourth quarter. He only had success when the Seahawks went into prevent defense. Philip Rivers only had 127 total yards in week 15. Boomer with the Vikings had 126 yards and 4 INTS in week 13. Cousins had 167 yrds week 14 and while it was over 150 yards, he also had 2 INTs with 0 TDs. Yeah Young didn't have a good game but neither did any of these other QBs. And while he had the lowest yardage, he was the only other QB that at least had a TD - Philips had the other.
    • He has to have a great year not a great few games...probably gonna have to finish with a winning record too for the first time as well. Front office has all the leverage, havent got much on the return for trading up in the draft no matter what bryce fans want to say. They have no reason to offer an extension right now. All the talk about his personality is just deflection off the talk about money. You can be the nicest guy in the world, it doesnt win games or make you a top 10 QB. They know that, spending all that money on the O line and drafting multiple offensive players in the first round of past drafts says a QB should have better production than what we have seen so far. We have to lean on a run game more to be productive in games rather than a qb we traded up to no.1 for. You can easily draft a more talented QB on a cheaper contract and get the same results bryce has given you so far. Thats the truth.
    • I will go out on a limb and say this was the biggest win since 06.
