Player Morale

After the Giants game, there were many posters speculating that the players had given up on Rhule. I find it very strange that out of nowhere Robby Anderson forgot how to catch, DJ Moore grew an aversion to contact, and Christian McCaffrey became mortally wounded by an injury that barely even made him limp.

Could this be because of the trade rumors? I know that if I was on a team and I knew that if any moment I could be forced to pack up and move half way across the country, I would not be happy. Even if they don't care, you've got to think that this has been a massive distraction for both players and coaches this week. Could be something to watch out for.

I doubt they have given up yet. If you see the defense start getting blasted, then you will know they are laying down.

The offensive struggles are just bad because entire offense is off. Bad OL, bad QB, receivers dropping poorly thrown and well thrown balls. I am sure that just plain sucks to deal with, especially for very competitive people.

Everybody knows it's a qb driven league. I don't think they've given up but honestly the locker room can't be in a good place right now. If fans and random people on social media see the awful throws Sam is making into quadruple coverage and how he ends one game with a pick and starts the next with a pick I mean how does that not become a factor in morale when you know despite your best efforts one guy will poo the bed? But Rhule and Fit made this mess it's up to them to deal with the fallout 🤷‍♂️

I would believe you but we haven’t shipped anyone away other than Denzel Perryman and that probably had more to do with him not being vaccinated. We have only brought in more talents in by draft picks.

Naw, we have brought in some really good defensive talent IMO

We have to suck over a sustained period to get to that point. I don't believe the guys are nearly as reactionary week in and out as we are as fans.

Morale/momentum shifts happen during games though most definitely. I think DJ checked out last week because the game had pulled away from them and Sam kept putting him in danger. I don't know how you can blame Robbys sudden case of butterfingers on low morale, plus he loves Rhule. And I think they're just being increasingly cautious with every CMC injury now.

Every single one of those guys in that room know Darnold isn't the guy. They work with him day in and day out, they watch film and they see him in the games. They all know he can't do it. So, imagine how tough that is on the sideline to be sitting there KNOWING your QB can't do his job properly but there isn't anything you can do about it.

And I very much doubt that they are doing anything but hoping that he CAN but they also have watched and played this game for years. They know more than we do.

I’m sure they see that in practice and know what’s coming before the game even starts.

    • Oh good lord Interest doesn't mean interest in making a bad trade to take the player, that's why I had such a long post, to accurately describe why those are two different things, but you don't like to listen to that stuff.  Being interested in a player doesn't live in a vacuum. It's very simple... there isn't a #1 draft pick type of grade on any of these QB's, if there was, we'd just take them.  You can't bluff a pick everyone knows you won't make, and trying to trade the pick is the CLEAR signal that you're not taking the QB. Just because the Raiders would have interest, doesn't mean they're going to bail us out of a situation we don't want to be in, they'd be smart about it and just sit put, let us take a non QB as we'd be telling the world we're not taking one just by trying to trade the pick, and then they'd take him at #2 (either with their own pick or by trading less to get that one). Oh, and your point of "if nobody is willing to make the trade, you obviously just take the best QB" is quite literally the dumbest thing I've ever read on here. If nobody is willing to trade up to take the QB, then it's OBVIOUS that the QB isn't worth taking with that pick, so OBVIOUSLY taking the best QB there is just OBVIOUSLY stupid and a bad pick. The moral of it is if there is a QB worth taking, we're taking them and not making the trade.  If there isn't a QB worth taking there, nobody is trading up to #1 to take one, we just showed the NFL how bad of an idea that is 2 years ago, it's really not hard to see. You keep making up this mythical situation where there is a QB who has shown to be worth trading up to #1 for and we'll be able to leverage that into a trade.  But we're the most QB needy team in the league, if we end up with the #1 pick, either we are taking a QB #1 or no QB is going #1 unless we get VERY lucky and two teams in the Top 5 fall in love with one prospect and we can play them off each other and fleece one of them. But again, I can't see that happening, as if there was a QB worthy of that, we're just taking him ourselves.
    • Sanders is with Tom Brady brand and that's his mentor. The Raiders owner was with Sanders taking pics at a Vegas game together.   It doesn't take much to connect the dots that Vegas will be interested in Sanders as their franchise QB. Oh yeah and guess who hasa small ownership stake in the Raiders Tom Brady.   I guess this is just another made up Madden idea by me huh?
    • Bro I don't mind debating you, but did you really have to write all that to get your point across.   This isn't Madden. If you have the #1 pick you literally control your own destiny. If nobody wants to trade which I have a hard time believing they won't then you obviously take the best QB.   I think we will have suitors. If that's Madden then so be it.
