Well, if you got the proof I won’t question it. I’ll admit being wrong. I just don’t think DJ nor Robby is as bad as what we’re seeing this year.

I also would lock DJ up with no concerns, providing we provide him a different QB. It’s about time we get him a reliable, accurate, good QB. He hasn’t had that since he’s been here, and I’m including that last year of Cam

meh I’m not going to search 2-3 year ago threads I honestly don’t know how to search for them I don’t remember titles

but I wouldn’t bring it up if I didn’t have some recollection of it, I remember posting in those threads around the time smitty blasted DJ (which you can find with a google search

now that he’s showing signs of that poo again it’s concerning

there is context though…I mean let’s look at DJs career, he’s been given garabage  as you said every single yea since entering the league, that has to be discouraging

im sure 4 years of trash influences him to not try…but the greats don’t do that

despite this, I wouldn’t mind locking him up either but not for top WR money

So you release him with all of that guaranteed money and bring in another reclamation project vet?

At that point you are just throwing bad money at bad money.  That might get you the pink slip also.

Honestly if we draft a QB that isn't ready, and people have their doubts about this class, you just let Darnold start again and the rookie takes over later in the season or the following season. Maybe Darnold looks decent enough somebody signs him as a free agent to be a back up and you get a comp pick out of it.

If you draft a rookie you might buy some time, you can sell fanbase on a plan.

It sounds bad, but we don't' need to be focused on winning, we need to be focused on finding a QB, that is what has got us in this trouble to start with.

I agree with this plan. I’m prepared to sit through another bad year to make sure we truly have our guy and do this right.

Yean gotta do all that, I believe you.

I just think DJ is a guy you absolutely lock up, and I’d have no issue doing it. He’s magical, and I absolutely believe he’s a #1.

Sam showed some heart this past game, so I’ll never take that away from him. It reminded me of when Cam was against Atlanta and dragged that defense for the first down. He was dead to rights 4 or 5 yards before the 1st down marker. Also, reminded me of the head shots; in particular, when that safety got him dead in the head but he came right back.

I’m not taking anything away from Sam. He had his best game yesterday and showed a ton of heart like you said. I want him to succeed here and be our Shane Falco. I won’t deny his bad performances the last few weeks though.

He is either getting released or getting moved or gonna be a backup. If you bring him back as a starter, you are just asking to be fired. He will not improve and he will cost you games.

I agree on the focusing on winning. It's a very strange thing to say but they sort of got caught up in the moment and forgot this was a rebuilding effort. The sad part is that we aren't that terribly far away from being a good team. They just need to stick with the ORIGINAL plan and build effectively. Fix the OL and get a real NFL QB.

So what if he cost games, if you draft a rookie QB who needs a year,  losing next season wouldn't be that bad, better draft picks the following year.

Why waste money on a different vet to be a place holder when you have a guy who is already paid?

Even you, who believes in rebuilding is still thinking W/L, the organization has to decide to think long term, and that starts at the top.

Sam’s best game was a mediocre game for QBs ranked in the top 20-25. That’s just what it is.

I got nothing against Sam. I can go overboard, but that’s just me going against his supporters, and admittedly with things that have happened in the past, it’s personal with me and them; I’m human. I will atleast admit my faults. I’m going to take my shots when they’re open. Anyways, I think Sam tries his hardest, he just ain’t it. I think the game is too fast for him. It’s unfortunate, because I want the panthers to win. I’m a Winston Salem cat. I’m tied to this team until the end.

The problem though, is that even if that is our plan, there might not be a good QB to draft next year.  Some years there just aren't any.

Lol this is true. Well, let me say I’m firm on my sit a year or 2 stance, but after a year or 2 we would have needed to draft a QB or traded for an established one.

I don't know that even I would roll with Sam in 2022 even thinking rebuild. I am very sure they will not, because Tepper seems impatient and Rhule is gonna be feeling the heat. They have all bought in on the "win now" mentality.

I would start Sam again simply because you risk flatly losing the team and losing talent that just wants out of here. It's hard to keep competitive people around on a losing franchise. That is at least part of what keeps bad franchises bad for a long time.

Yep. That feeling is the only reason you bring in Gilmore and make that Henderson trade. They’ve all bought into the fact that they think they’re good enough now.  Honestly, they are. With a better QB and maybe better play calling and coaching that would be a reality

Sucks, because I’m sure that team feels they are good enough. I’m sure Gilmore thought they were

I agree. This is a team that could have won immediately. All we had to do was take the OL seriously and not assemble the worst QB unit in the NFL. That was it.

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
