setting ourself up for the ol injury excuse. Jackson is a good young corner, I would try to make an offer to him and Gilmore and see what happens

Absolutely not. Horn, Taylor and Henderson are better and on rookie deals. Let Donte and Bouye go and see if Gilmore takes the hometown discount for his last few years

Teams that can run the ball effectively can pretty much impose their will on us.

I'm not sure Jackson being out makes a difference on that front one way or the other.

Thats because we have the 2 smallest EDGE/DE guys maybe in the whole NFL starting.  Reddick and Burns are great at getting after the QB, but they get absolutely bullied in the run game.  Its a very big issue that we have no answer for.

There was word prior to the season that the team wanted Burns to put on some weight and add some muscle.

He did, but apparently not enough.

I agree about the run game, but specifically to how we were being effectively attacked in the passing game when our opponent needed to pass, the last two weeks they went after Donte.

The way this played out with Donte, especially what happened as of late, reminds me a lot of what happened with Whitehead last season.

They talked him up, named him a captain, he ends up getting picked on in games, suddenly has a mystery injury pop up and gets demoted/benched, or in this case, IR'd.

Ron pretty thoroughly demonstrated the old saying "what I built, I can destroy".

Donte played well for the most part though, Whitehead was just horrifyingly bad.

    • Moton would be gone by then, Ikey likely on a big deal and it's likely one or both of Lewis and Hunt will be gone due to finances or performance drops.  Mays will likely never see 6-8 mil/year here. He is a backup caliber player and has roughly the same valuation as BC. We should not be either relying on him as a long term starter nor paying him like one, as he is essentially a backup player. An extremely valuable one like BC but not one with a lot of free agency heat, I would imagine(like BC). You can't be paying backup IOL like starters. It's not smart.
    • What makes me think we keep vacillating is that Evero is pretty darn familiar with the offense and defense we just faced.  Think he was keyed in on certain things against his old regime.  Hope I'm wrong here and we can keep rolling.
    • This is the laziest post I've read of your in years.  Bryce has already proven he can throw more than 20 and still play well.  Has he done it consistently? I'm not sure i want any team to have to consistently ask their QB to throw 40 plus times a game. That is not plan for sustained winning.  In order to best the best teams, which often have good offenses, the best game plans, always involve a run heavy game plan.  You have to keep their offense on the side of the field.   You also have to gave the defense do their part.   Cam's MVP season, he was constantly getting short fields because our defense was taking the ball away.  Stop being lazy.  Stop talking down players abilities.
