Didn't the drops seem to go down when PJ/Cam were playing?

Isn't this the sort of passing chart that made us think Teddy was the problem?  Why doesn't this apply to Sam who has completed far fewer throws and committed far more turnovers?

There were plenty of drops when PJ and Cam were playing tbh. 3 of his 8 came in a 2 game stretch with those two.  Chubba has had plenty of drops.

Drops were overall worse very early... Robby seemed to play harder for Cam and PJ for one game but he's still been poo overall with or without Darnold ...

The playcalling is designed to compensate for the bad offensive line. We only run hitch routes and slants and RPO's. It's a college offense. We have WRs just running down field for no reason as "decoys". If the oline improves and the design is still like this, then we know. But it's all on Rhule, and more importantly, all on Tepper.

By the way, DJ remains awful in the third year. For every somewhat big play he has, he drops ten fuging balls directly in his hands.

Hes gotten way worse the last 2 years btw. Big down turn.  He was much more consistent years 1 and 2... His drop rate basically doubled from year 2 to 3 and 4...

I know the offensive line is terrible, but it seems like we should be able scheme around it better than we are currently doing. Sam, Cam, and PJ are all above average in mobility, but we don't seem to get those guys on the edge with called roll outs to move the pocket. I don't see us throwing many screens to slow down the pass rush. TE's Thomas and Tremble have a combined 36 catches on the year. If each guy caught 2 passes a game over the course of the season they'd have almost twice that number in combined catches. TE's are an after thought in this offense. I'd be practicing every trick play I knew (reverses, reverse passes, HB options, hook and ladders, etc) to keep the chains moving and to compensate for the poor line. As you pointed out, we just seem to run the same routes over and over. Even with this line, the upper echelon coaches would be able to get 8-10 wins with the current talent, and possibly more depending on the strength of schedule.

People want to poo on DJ Moore yet he's the only WR on the roster who showed up this year.

Robby Anderson fleeced the Panthers almost as badly as Matt Rhule, with Rhule's help.

I keep saying this is on coaching. It's frustrating to see DJ drop passes he can and usually does catch, yes. But when an entire receiving corps is dropping balls left and right, is quitting on routes, looks lost etc... The issue is above the players...

    • Yuck.  I still kind of like Herbert but these playoff performances are rough....
    • I feel like this was the case with River and McDermott defenses as well, we just had the jimmies and the joes to overcome these deficiencies with all pro players at edge and linebacker positions.  Even then, was extremely frustrated in 2015 when we'd let team come back from 20+ pt deficits playing prevent only to barely win at the end.
    • We need to move on soon and just use Bryce as a bridge to find our next guy. I'd like to see how this offense works with Canales hand picking his own guy. Bryce holds this offense back a lot considering you draft the first pick to carry your team and be your best player. We invested heavily for Bryce and need everything to go right just to have him look like a solid game manager sometimes. When he plays well he can look decent or mid, but when he plays bad he looks like a bottom 5 qb in league (backups included). It's not worth it, especially if we need to pay him soon, which means we have to skimp all over the roster. If the defenses don't hand it to us on a silver platter Atlanta style then we struggle big time. Defenses don't respect the offense at all. With Cam we could have the worst offensive talent and I'd still think we had a shot in any game we played. If Bryce is facing a 3rd and 10 I pretty much wave the white flag and don't think we can make that first down.
