Does anyone on here work in digital advertising?

If the goal is to embarrass hedge dung magnate David Tepper to fire Rhule, I’d like to play a part

was thinking of taking a billboard on I-77, 277, 485 with a black and blue theme ‘Fire Rhule’

I’ve never done a billboard but a lot of you on here are pretty creative.

I’ve never been this disinterested in Panthers football and I actually tuned in during the 1-15 season

Jags fans are dressing up like clowns for their last home game surely we can top that. Maybe urinal cakes with Rhule’s face and “fire Rhule” written over it. We’re too late to get those into the stadium though!

Or send a musical telegram to Tepper’s house with a lively jaunt telling the tale of Matt Rhule’s failure as head coach of the Panthers. So much potential there.

I also work in advertising, but to be honest, the messaging would've needed to be in market at least a few weeks ago for a real impact. Rhule made it this far -- he's getting another year, unfortunately, so just boo lustily whenever humanly possible and save the cash for september, when the campaign can really stretch its legs

I work in digital marketing and advertising, but this whole thing just feels classless / petty.

Tepper is fully aware how fans feel. He's either going to keep Rhule or let Rhule go. And I don't think a billboard is going to do a damn thing to affect Tepper's decision. So save the money on a billboard or donate it to a good cause where it can make a difference.

Yeah agree he could care less what a billboard says. If he doesn’t see how the stadium looked last two home games, hear the fire Fhule chants at the games, see all these fire Fhule on social media, and fire Fhule chants at hornet games on live tv then we will be stuck with him next year. He is the only one making decisions and makes billions of dollars. I really don’t think he cares what we say, and could care less about this football team. I’ve noticed he only cares about English football. We got the wrong owner and stuck with him for a long time (Thanks NFL)!

Billboards are not digital ads.

You could run targeted display ads on the Charlotte observer, etc but something like that may not be approved.

A facebook/insta ad targeted to all CLT residents would be funny too. You’d have to soften the message though as there is no way FB would approve a direct “fire Rhule” ad. They’d most likely ban you for it.

Hmm...didn't know we had so many ppl on here that also work in advertising.

There are maybe 2 or 3 in this thread that said that they do, or hinted at it, myself included. But why is that hard to believe? It's a booming industry and there's more spent in it year-in and year-out. Hell, during the last 2 years, I have seen a major increase in companies looking for help in the field, and the sites I worked on shattered earnings goals.

I've been doing SEO, PPC, Paid Social, Website Designs & acquisitions, A/B Testing & Heatmaps, and whatever else it entails for over 10 years. It all started with an advertising company as an intern in 2010. But now my focus is 85% Digital Media Publishers + 15% Freelance clients at this point.

P.S. I live in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, PA area. So I can relate on being a Panthers fan in Eagles territory. My condolences.

Yeah, I'm not sure it was hard to believe but just had never seen it mentioned by anyone on here before (not that they necessarily ever had a reason to).  That's awesome though, I really need to move into the digital media space as well. I've dabbled with digital advertising, etc. with some of my side projects I do (Amazon, Etsy, etc) but my main gig is with a local billboard and sign company here in Philadelphia so everything is OOH/print media.

Yeah, Eagles fans are...something. My wife and her family are all from here so they're obviously all about the Iggles (I'm from S.C.).  At least I have my 5 year old riding with the Panthers so far but we'll see how long that lasts lol.

If you have any questions about getting into it, and need to bounce some ideas to find where you might enjoy, feel free to send a DM. I'm sure there's a lot more demand for physical advertising around Philly due to all the traffic. And that's not going away anytime soon.

But if you want to future proof it, start getting some more digital experience. Not sure if you ever plan on moving back or not (I'm looking to move to the Cary / Morrisville area by end of the year with the wife & kids), but I was able to switch to fully remote 4 years ago, and I can never look back!

And my 3 year old is all-in on the Panthers. But it doesn't hurt that my wife didn't really have a team when we started dating (her family is full of Bears fans, but she didn't give a hoot about football back then.) Now she also doesn't miss a game 🙂

Finally!  I'm glad someone is taking the lead on this.  I would suggest setting up a GoFundMe as well, which could be shared to the Panthers Reddit and on Facebook.

In my mine, ideally, there would also be some concise points on the billboard outlining Tepper/Rhule's failure.  That way, the billboard would not be so easily written off.

No way to be sure, but I could imagine the thought of thousands upon thousands of commuters getting a laugh at the team's expense could push the movement over the top...

    • It would be nice to see #9 prove people like this laughably wrong. That's why many Panthers fans myself included were wanting to see how much time he'd dedicated to his craft following the conclusion of the season but then he showed up and let everyone know he pretty much crawled under a rock. Somehow the Panthers social team though this was rather amusing after what we'd sacrificed for the rights to draft him It's interesting that we go from Levis being least desirable of the class and a complete and total meathead that would alienate himself from his teammates to being talked up as possibly emerging as one of the better young QB's entering the 2024 season. Man what a whirlwind the last 12 months have been for the people who fully bought the hype machine in the lead up to the 2023 NFL draft and did victory laps like they had their very own sports almanac from BTTF. Life comes at you fast folks.
    • You either need to do waaay more drugs or waaay less drugs, your current intake is not right. Sorry I can not advise on which path to take.
    • He's routinely a great watch.  Good content.  I like his optimism on Chubba in our scheme, allows us to bring in Brooks at an optimal pace relative to his recovery (who we got obviously to be our new guy, could become the focal point of this offense) The two news OGs will have no issue playing our offense coming from familiar schemes, one in Hunt being league top, is going to be huge for our running game more than anything.  I also liked him maintaining some optimism with Icky.   Seeing his page and commentary on our defense really puts in perspective how much turnover we have.  It should feel like a much different team (hopefully better) especially that front-7.  Jewell is going to be better than people expect, he was super unheralded for Denver and is just a smart closer who played against the Chiefs routinely well.
