And you reach...get a bust. Now we're the jets

Reach? Lol. Are you suggesting no QB will have a 1st round grade? Are you suggesting none will pan out?

i don’t care about “busts.” You don’t make draft picks under the weight of crippling fear that it may not pan out. They all might fail.

And some have higher probability of failing which is why 1st round its better to take a sure fire LT over a iffy qb

Yes.  If you keep up with the draft process at all, you would know that last year's QB crop had draftnics drooling all over themselves.  Heck, I even wanted one last year. This year not so much.  Just by the law of averages, one of these guys will likely pan out, but determining who based of their college careers is a crap shoot.  There is no Tervor Lawrence-type of guys who had sustained success.  You have one-hit wonders in Pickett/Corral and a guy like Howell that regressed.  Then you have the guy from Liberty who ate bad competition alive, but struggled against the big dogs.

there’s no such thing as a surefire anything, especially at the OT position, but aside from that

who cares

an OT isn’t changing the future of your franchise, and when you’re picking as high as the panthers are, that’s what you’re in the market for.

1. Jacksonville Jaguars: OT Evan Neal, Alabama

2. Detroit Lions: Edge Kayvon Thibodeaux, Oregon

3. Houston Texans: Edge Aidan Hutchinson, Michigan

4. New York Jets: Edge George Karlaftis, Purdue

5. New York Giants: OL Ikem Ekwonu, North Carolina State

Crazy right, TWO OTs mocked before the first QB goes off the board?  I guess I have no clue what I'm talking about, even early on.

    • Damn I liked A'Shawn too. This is basically a heads up we're planning on cutting you move.  Robinson wasn't the best but I loved his attitude and effort on the field. He held that entire dline together when Brown went down iirc..granted we finished that season as the worst rushing defense in modern NFL history.  If Wharton would have performed up to atleast half of his salary last season, I'd feel a little better about it. We do need that cap space though.
    • 13. Carolina is coming. The Panthers are well thought of around the league. Their "process" seems sound. I think their off-season will be very interesting to keep an eye on. They made the playoffs, but they're not yet knocking on the door. (Offense was 26th in EPA/play.) I think it's imperative they don't overestimate where they are in their build. They can't throw a ton of money around in FA to "make a run now". They need to be intentional about building a solid foundation. (IMO) And from what I know about the team... I think they will be. Sidenote: I have my eye on offense there, not defense. They HAVE to leave next season with a strong opinion on Bryce Young. They need to put pieces around him to do that. Can't be left wondering what he would have looked like with "better OL play" or "more pass catchers". They have to know. (That part is purely my opinion. No one told me that.) https://x.com/lindsay_rhodes/status/2027212533417869499?s=46&t=xeIgh_-Vr2aKxBkBJdfnKA
    • Because this DL is completely reliant on Brown being available and being a stud. Without him we were the worst D in history. The Wharton signing last year reeked of desperation. He just isn't a great fit for us schematically and I think we panicked a little bit when we missed out on Milton Williams who would have been a great fit.
