I don't want the Gettlmen type GM either... I want the coach to be able person when it come to talent evaluation.. Rhule just sucked at it..

But Parcell says why cook the meal if you can't pick the groceries..

The funny thing is that Fitts is supposed to be a Gettleman type. Rhule stated clearly he wanted a talent evaluator before going hard to hire Fitts. Then they make a ton of bad calls and not it's all Rhule and Fitts is just doing his job? WTF makes anyone comfortable with either after last offseason.

Everyone hating on the Panthers top to bottom but the leadership is fine.  These dude just need time

Time and a coach. Fitts seems to be smart and know what he's talking about. I wish he'd gone hard at Tepper and convinced him that his college coach ain't gonna work out at this level, but Rhule played a big part in Fitts being here so I doubt the knife comes out from under the cloak unless he feels his job is on the line.

Man, I know where you are with this but hopefully you can keep an open mind.  Another 5 win season next year and your wish comes true and we hopefully get an OL and our next QB.  + a new coach.  Glass half full man

My glass is dry and shattered on the floor regarding Matt Rhule.

...what i did gather in this press conference is they still want to jam square darnold into a round hole....

And what other option does he have exactly? Go and get a QB and mortgage the future and not fix the OLine essentially getting Sam and the new QB killed OR deal with Sam right now, work on fixing the line, if Sam does fine behind the line then great, if not, then we have a young OLine with time working together and what should be a good pick to then attempt a move at QB.

This is where I'm at. Yeah, Fitts sounds good on the mic but our off-season last year was atrocious and that was reflected on the field. How much was Rhule to blame? I don't know but I do know that Rhule has final say on paper. But I also know that I heard for years that every decent move we made was because of Hurney and every dumb move we made for years was because of JR's meddling.

I call BS. Giving Fitt full control is too much like giving Rhule full control, there is nothing to indicate it wouldn't be a long shot because there is no supporting evidence he has any experience with that. He came from an organization that is ruled by the HC but now we are giving him DG control? Hard pass.

This guy reminds me of Hurney. Underperformed but it's always the HC. Sounds like a guy who is more skilled at the politics then the actual job.

It could be a lot worse next year. Desperation combined with stupidity usually is not a recipe for success. If they felt comfortable last offseason what the hell is a lot more pressure going to add to the process?

Talent evaluation is 1 thing.. But a Stalin like team building mentality and contract negotiator is the difference.. Plus your talent evaluation can't be to the point that your ego feels like you can replace ppl easily...

    • Lions were never going Freeling over Miller for the same reason we wouldn't have taken Miller had Freeling not been on the board. Miller is a career RT Lions have a hole at RT, we have a hole at LT. If we took Miller, it would have been for him to backup Moton until he retires and/or we release him, so the best case scenario is it would have been a wasted 1st round pick for at least 1, if not 2 years.  At least Freeling has a shot at playing this year without injury ahead of him, he absolutely can win the LT job if he earns it, but Miller would have never supplanted Moton this year unless he got hurt.
    • What up y’all. I like threads like this where we can stroll down memory lane. I remember the insane amount of site traffic pre-crash when we signed Keyshawn Johnson, 06 I believe. Raging about the Cowboys Christmas Eve loss in 05 (Peppers touched that FG attempt as sure as Cotchery caught it). When I found the huddle I basically had a first born baby, now I’ve got one in college and one in high school. Life comes at you fast, but the Panthers and the Huddle has been a steady constant in my life for many years.  Those who have been here, y’all are cool with me any time any where.    Cheers, genitals!
    • This is a weird post since it wasn’t like we got A’s across the board. We needed a QB and got a consensus top 2 player at that position. (I was pretty vocal that Stroud should’ve been the guy but…)  I think this draft we generally got better value. I’m not particularly optimistic on BY but another year in this offense playing with TMac he really needs to be a consistently average QB at a minimum
