It's crazy and if we brought back receipts half this board would look just like Rhule because most if not all Loved the Horn pick that night... And to be truly honest the ppl who wanted a different player wanted Fields!! Not Slater or Parsons...

Plain and Simple Horn and Surtain were rated higher then Slater..And Cb was a needed position..

I wanted Slater.

Becton looks like Otah right now and the knee and leg problems for a man that big scares me.. If the Jets take a OT in this draft we will have a idea about his Medicals..

I like Willis.. But again if we go back and not use Hindsight 20/20.. We had nothing at DT when we made that pick..

Remember Poe, McCoy, Butler, Addison and Irving all gone.. All we had was Burns, Haynes and KK.. We needed to draft Dlinmen.. And Brown was the highest rated Dlinmen on the board..

The logic for taking Brown was there.  It just doesn't look great with the benefit of hindsight.  If he was a dominant force inside, people wouldn't be saying we should have taken a tackle.  He could still turn it around next year, but I think it's just one of those unfortunate cases where you take a guy in the 1st and he's just average.

Totally agree.. If he was A. Donald we wouldn't even have this discussion but hes not and probably won't ever be...

Prove it...

And even if you were you and 2 other guys doesn't make my point not a fact...

I think there were a couple, one for sure was my guy @kungfoodude .

I was all-in for Sewell...... so I had a head start to this past season disappointment.

Hes the rare out-liner and one hell of a worker.

Proved hes able to have the Chase Young game over and over, props to him.

I'm not saying it wasn't a few Slater ppl .. But the bigger vocal group was Field ppl..

And Even if ppl did want Slater I get it but I understand the thinking on the Horn picked and saw alot of analysts and board members play the I told you so role when they didn't..

A good number of us were. Some serious revisionist history going on here.

Again were you or anybody claiming we made a big mistake after the Horn pick??

I saw more ppl mad as fug and loud about the Luke pick 2012 then the Horn pick...

    • I will never get over how much of Cam's prime was wasted by Mike Shula. People say that he should've doubled Von but that's pretty much what he tried to do, the Broncos just sent more guys in response to it as LG's post pointed out and then he just never adjusted. Turtling up in max protect actually played into Denver's hands because it gave Cam less places to go with the ball. We had Philly Brown and Ted Ginn Jr trying to beat Chris Harris and Aqib Talib on long-developing routes against the best pass rush arguably of the decade, it was just downright comedic. What he should have done was chip Von with a TE and putting more WRs on the field, running quick plays designed to get the ball out as fast as possible. But Shula's entire passing scheme was woefully inefficient and out of date. We asked Cam to attempt passes harder than probably any other QB in the league at that time on a play to play basis outside Rodgers under late stage McCarthy. The instant that Cam got something resembling a competent offensive coordinator in Norv Turner his completion percentage and accuracy in the short game skyrocketed, and if not for injury the false narrative about him being an inaccurate thrower would have likely died out. Shula went 15-1 with the #1 ranked offense in the league and didn't get a single head coach interview. Literally everyone in the league knew he was riding Cam's coattails except for Ron and JR, it's sickening.
