A) Nobody is trading for him

B) His contract hit for us is way too much even if someone would give us a 4rth for him

I don't think that's true.  If he were in his late 20s or early 30s maybe, but he's got plenty of tread on the tires.  He would be one of the best slot receivers in the entire NFL if he played the position full time.  Plenty of teams would trade for him.

Imagine how much of a contender the Bills become with a player like CMC?

With a CMC trade, the Panthers would take a huge cap hit.  Probably would have to absorb some of CMC's massive salary to get the deal done.  Wouldn't get much in return since it's all about dumping the salary.  And finally we'd likely see him become an All Pro on his next team if he were used correctly.

All in all a huge fail for Carolina.

I discussed this in an earlier post, but I'll jump in.

Keep Brady at LT.

Draft Linderbaum at CENTER with our 6th pick.

Start Deonte at RG.

Moton is already a fixture at RT.

Draft the best G on the board in the 4th round.

Now, if we could trade down in the first and still get Linderbaum, then I'd draft the best guard on the board with our acquired pick, probably a 2nd or 3rd.

This would address all the spots and it wouldn't cost us a lot money. We could use the available money to retain our FA' or acquire some.

Of course if Brady and Deonte don't pan out, we'll be screwed

Linderbaum is hard to get a feel for. Typically centers don't go in the top 10 but I think he has a shot at it. He's that talented. I thought I saw him rated 7 or 8 overall on SI's big board so it is possible especially since the Qb class is lack. What I would do, would be overkill BUT:

Free Agency: Find a way to get Ben Jones at center. Also target Duane Brown for LT incase BC doesnt pan out. Older but still producing at an above average level.

I'd target Philly and trade for one of their firsts. With our #6 the value should net us 15, 51, 83.

Pick 15: Kenyon Green

......

Just those moves VASTLY improve our line and leave us flexible for the rest of the draft.

Duane Brown-Christensen-Jones-Green-Moton..

BC and Green can play all over line incase of injury. Deonte Brown plugs in if that happens.

Pick 51: Drake Jackson (DE) ... reminds me of YGM mixed with Burns but if insisted on going Qb with the pick...Carson Strong (QB).

Pick 83: Brandon Joseph (FS) .. we finally get a true FS...instincts, ballhawk, range immediate starter imo + he can PR. Let's Chinn either move back to LB or up in the box SS.

Pick 105: Lucas Abraham (OT) .. too much upside IMO.

Pick 148: Darrian Beavers (LB) ...beast..Phil Snow type of player.

Pick 156: Dameon Pierce (RB) ...tough runner, looks for contact, good vision... but if you want more finesse Max Borghi...the lite lite version of McCaffrey.

Pick 199: Isiah Likely (TE)... Tremble is our blocking TE ..THIS will be our better version of Dan Arnold.

Pick 248: Devonnsha Maxwell (DT)

I completely disagree with every point you made.  Every single one of those are complete assumptions.  The closest thing to a virtual guarantee, however, is us being well compensated for him in a trade.

    • So let me ask you this, and this is assuming you watched the first 2 games of the season. The falcons game was a back and forth between to 2 bad teams until bryce throws 2 crucial picks to help atlanta pull away. The second game was a sloppy game where the defense scored and our offense did absolutely nothing till the 4th quarter, bryce even fumbles and saints return for a TD. If Dalton starts both of those games is the outcome and playout still the same for both games?
    • sure.  I acknowledge we had a rookie making rookie mistakes.  You fail to acknowledge a pushing 40 Dalton however paired up in this trainwreck wasn't going to yield significantly better results. good results.   And Dalton didn't even win his game vs a wrecked Seattle D.  Andy Dalton couldn't even find a way for his team to beat the Carolina freaking Panthers in 2022.  A team with an interim HC, that couldn't score, playing like it was 1970.   And Andy Dalton had REAL weapons on the field at his disposal.   All Dalton had to do was score more than 10 points.  He couldn't pull that off.    I probably got as little faith in Bryce as anyone here.   But I'm not willing to go this Andy Dalton route.  Maybe he wins 4ish here.  But he wasn't doing much here.  Dalton isn't Cincy Dalton.
    • What do you think really happens here?  Do you think that Seattle loss with half a secondary is a realistic game for Dalton to consistently have?  Do you expect 40 year old Dalton to throw it 60 times and rack up 361 yards while constantly getting hit to work against other teams?  If we played him all year do you think he would rack up 6,137 yards 34 TDs and 0 INTs on over a thousand attempts?  That games wasn't a great game.  We were trailing all game and he threw it against a terrible secondary 60 times averaging 6.6 yards an attempt.  He had one "deep" pass to Chark (wide ass open) for 27 yards who ran another 20 for a TD.  That's not happening against other teams.  I would be surprised if Dalton made it two more games taking those kinds of hits and probably losing both of those games.  Our OL sucked, Our coaches sucked, and our weapons sucked.  Remember Rhule beat Andy Dalton and his Saints offense (which has a better OL and better weapons) just the prior year.  Yeah Matt Rhule...  Darnold put up 43 yards and 2 INTs and Dalton STILL couldn't beat him.  That's embarrassing.
