Dan Morgan interviewed for Steelers GM job

I don't want to lose Morgan or Fitterer. Given their respective skill sets (Fitterer with the college draft, Morgan with pro personnel) they're potentially a very effective combo.

One thing to remember though: The Steelers have interviewed approximately half the planet for their GM job. They also have some pretty strong internal candidates in Brandon Hunt and Omar Khan.

I'm not too worried...yet.

Oh I’m more worried because Morgan wants to leave already and just sign here last year. Tepper should have fixed this, and as fans we have a long, long season coming up!

lol I'm not too surprised. Everyone would go for the higher position (especially with an organization that has some semblance of competency vs Carolina)

BUT, upon first seeing the headline I thought 'Didn't he just get here?!?'

He wants to be a GM and was given an opportunity to interview for what would be a far superior situation than the Panthers have.

I can't really fault him for that.

At the same time, I'm not going to read too much into it.

No I’m just saying I’m tired of people saying they excited about the hires. There’s nothing to be excited about when certain people are leaving for same positions at other places. People will say well their not that good, guess what that makes it look worst because they want to leave here. We won’t be able to sign any good players because they don’t want to come to this organization.

Come on man, he is not going to decline an interview to become a GM even if its a long shot

Yeah but you would have to bury your head in the sand to not think the dysfunction here is a factor. Especially with multiple assistants making lateral moves.

Yeah we are a mess but him interviewing for a GM spot isnt like some tell tale sign.  Anyone with a pulse would go to that interview if a GM was your dream job.  He is not turning it down

    • I tend to think that you're right, but fans can hope.  Metchie hasn't actually translated so far to the NFL for reasons we can point to, and others we probably cannot. This will probably be his best opportunity to stick and raise his value, obviously because of past chemistry with Young, but I don't think that fans can count on it based upon what he's done so far in the league. It would seem that he would've been given that opportunity in Houston, but they not only drafted one, but two receivers. Tells you how they valued him. Philly didn't blink when they traded him to the Jets who refused to tender him, so no one has really valued what he brings--not really. Moreover, Bryce is in the big boy leagues, now. He doesn't have time for sentimentality when it comes to security blankets. T-Mac and Coker are established.  That being said, chemistry can cause explosions under the proper circumstances, but I wouldn't count on Metchie being anything more than a sub-explosion at best.
    • Beyond the locks, that's so gross, there is no reason Tremayne should be our 3rd (as I'm over XL and he shouldn't be higher than #4 on our depth chart this year), just no. It's why I was really hoping we'd just get rid of XL for whatever the best draft pick we can get for him is.  Then sign a true quick twitch guy to be our slot WR, and even then, still hope that Horn Jr might take that spot from them in camp anyways and turn that FA signing into our #4, with Moore as a special teamer who gets a jersey and then Tremayne as that last project.
